NBA lose their minds after Rudy Gobert gets traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday

Rudy Gobert made the NBA off-season a lot more interesting than it already is. The French dominator has been one of the strongest defensive centers in the league and has been the face of the Utah Jazz franchise for the same amount of time. He was drafted in 2013 by the Denver Nuggets but found his way to the Jazz before the commencement of that season.

He has had several All-defensive selections in his nine year career as well as being named the defensive player of the year in 2018, 2019, and 2021. Gobert also led the league in rebounding this past season and finished third in the DPOY ranking. He averaged 15.6 points and 14.7 rebounds while his career best 71.3% from the field. The Jazz were one of the top teams in the league with the big man playing alongside All-Star Donovan Mitchell.

The Jazz made a decision to enter their rebuild phase by trading their three-time All-Star to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday. For long now the team has been very stagnant but they are trying to find a way to make a title run in the future. Over the recent most seasons, Rudy Gobert and the rest of team began to show very poor chemistry especially with Mitchell. Utah claimed that their relationship was unsalvageable.

The Wolves are the biggest winners of this trade. They their first playoffs appearance after a 15-year drought. The offered the Jazz Malik Beasley, veteran Patrick Beverley. Leandro Bolmaro, Walker Kessler, Jared Vanberbilt as well as three future protected draft picks and one top-five protected pick. Gobert’s defensive presence will be a big help for Anthony Edwards’ who averaged 25 points per game in the playoffs. Karl-Anthony Towns will be able to further develop his offensive skill as well.
