The NBA playoffs have kickstarted with the first-round series. Each and every team looks forward to giving their best to win the best-of-seven series against their opponent. The games so far have been full of action and have gone down to the wire. However, sometimes, the home-court advantage plays out as an extra boost to dominate the opponent. That is exactly what seems to have happened in the game between the Denver Nuggets and the Karl-Anthony Towns-led Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves beat the Oklahoma City Thunder to clinch the eighth seed in the West. This matched them up against the table toppers from Denver led by Nikola Jokic. While this faceoff was evidently going to pose strong competition, the visiting Wolves were dominated heavily by the Nuggets. Jamal Murray led the scoring for the Nuggets with 24 points along with Michael Porte Jr who put up 18. The reigning MVP put up 13 points with 14 rebounds and six assists. The Nuggets outscored the Wolves 80-109 at the end time.

The Timberwolves aren’t really playing their best combination on the court. Jaden McDaniels who was a key player for Minnesota is out with a fractured hand. His absence adds a bit of responsibility on the remaining players who are going up against tough contenders. While players like Rudy Gobert and Anthony Edwards add a bit of depth, Towns is the front-running player expected to score for the team.

However, Towns did not have a very pleasant opening game for the first round. The forward could manage to score only 11 points with 10 rebounds and two assists. He went 5-15 for field goals and 1-7 from the three-point line. It would be fair to assume that Towns’ inability to score effectively caused his side to lose by a whopping 29 points. While players are prone to have off days on the court, fans are always quick to express their disappointment.

Towns will look forward to the next game as an opportunity to redeem himself. After all, he is one of Minnesota’s best players and has put up stellar performances in the past. Moreover, Game 1 of a playoff series away from home can be quite tricky. Now that the nerves have probably settled, Towns will look to brush this off and have a big Game 2. As of now, the Denver Nuggets lead 1-0.
