NBA Insider drops truth bomb on Phoenix Suns’ impending sale amid Robert Sarver scandal
Adrian Wojnarowski and Robert Sarver
The NBA team Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver recently made it public that he has decided to sell the franchise. Several big names can already be the potential buyers for the Phoenix Suns. ESPN’s NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski has shed light on one of his colleague’s reports. Adrian only provided some input as to what can be the perceived market value of the NBA team.
Adrian Wojnarowski mentioned in his tweet, stating, “The Suns are considered an extremely desirable franchise in the marketplace and will have no shortage of high-level ownership candidates. As a warm weather destination in West, league executives always believed this could be a monster free agent destination with right ownership.”
Earlier, Adrian’s colleague and ESPN analyst Ramona Shelburne evaluated $3 to $4 billion for the Phoenix Suns team. She also named former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and ex-Disney CEO Robert Iger as potential new owners. Whoever may be the new owner, the Suns have a chance to move past this chapter and create a new legacy altogether. They have a new roster and all would be eager to perform on the big stage.
Robert Sarver to sell both Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury
Suspended owner Robert Sarver has started the process of selling both NBA team Phoenix Suns and WNBA team Phoenix Mercury. This decision came in after the NBA commission suspended the owner over workplace misconduct, including racist speech and hostile behavior toward employees. Sarver thought this was the best course of action after he made multiple attempts to keep control of the franchises.
Sarver wrote in one of his statements, “But in our current unforgiving climate, it has become painfully clear that that is no longer possible — that whatever good I have done, or could still do, is outweighed by things I have said in the past. For those reasons, I am beginning the process of seeking buyers for the Suns and Mercury.” The primary owner Sarver bought the teams in July 2004 for about $400 million. Sarver is yet to put forth the selling price for both teams.
