“$1.6 Billion franchise has made huge salary cap space” NBA Insider hints Cavaliers making a big money move for LeBron James next season
LeBron James
LA Lakers’ LeBron James is modern generation icon and superstar. Though he is on the wrong side of his 30s, many teams would bet on him only to make a strong claim to the final and most prestigious award in the league. So, when he is into his final contracted season with his current franchise, many teams would be waiting for his decision. Los Angeles Lakers would be hoping that LB would accept the extension. But ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst has some interesting insight over the same. He believes LeBron James is in no mood to leave the LA Lakers but doesn’t forget to mention the Cleveland Cavaliers creating huge salary space for a possible reunion.
At the age of 37, LeBron James continues to be a dominant force on the hardwood. In his 19th season in the league, individually he had a mega season, even bettering his previous stats. The Lakers superstar averaged 30.3 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 6.2 APG, shooting an efficient 52.4% from the field, but the Lakers couldn’t bank on his consistent performance.
LeBron James still performing at the highest level topping most teams list
While LeBron James is one of the oldest players in the league, he still is one of the star performers for his team. Very recently, King James surpassed Hall of Famer Karl Malone as the second all-time leading scorer, looking to dethrone Kareem Abdul-Jabbar from the top spot. He will easily surpass the grant total of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the upcoming 2022-23 season.
4-time NBA Champion will still be looking to add silverware to his tally though. With the 2022 season proving a complete mess for megastar, he will certainly make sure that he will have the best shot at the title in the coming future.
Interestingly the said future is not far away as LBJ is entering into his final season with the Lakers and becomes eligible to sign a two-year, $97 million extension on August 4. There is no doubt that LBJ will be on everybody’s radar if he decides to test the market. According to NBA Insider Brian Windhorst, King will ideally stay with the purple and gold. Nonetheless, the senior writer does not forget to tease a Cavalier’s reunion, looking at proceedings at the franchise.
Adding to his point, Windy cited how the Cleveland team had created huge salary space. The currently constructed Cavs roster boasts a plethora of young talent, “They have this growing young team” Brian Windhorst on the possibility of LeBron James’ reunion with the Cavaliers.
The Cleveland Cavaliers era certainly has a special place in the former Rookie of the Year’s heart. It is undoubtedly one of the most iconic chapters in James’ two-decade career. Akron-born star delivered their 1st ever title and might even look to repeat the same. Not to mention, Kyrie Irving will also be a free agent at the end of the 2023 season, and a possible gathering of these 3 would be a movie-like ending for LeBron. To top it all, his first-born Bronny joining him at the Cavs would make things sweeter for LBJ.
The young Cavs roster has the right size and skill, with the likes of Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, Darius Garland, and Lauri Markannen. Though joining LBJ and Kyrie is a long shot, Cavs fans would be ecstatic to see their former Rookies finishing their careers with them.
