“He is worth the gamble” NBA Scouts target 9x All-Star to help complete Miami Heat’s “championship contending” roster
Kyle Lowry with Miami Heat team
The Miami Heat have already reached further than where people expected they would go. These last few seasons have been their best since the super team created back in 2010 with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. They have shown championship caliber ability and have been the biggest defensive group in the league.
The leadership of Jimmy Butler has played a vital role in their success. Last season, they sat at the top of the Eastern Conference. The addition of Kyle Lowry to the roster also had a major impact since he had experience playing in the finals. But their progress has been stagnant ever since. The Heat showed tremendous fight in the playoffs but Butler’s injury was their biggest loss.

Lately, experts have been reconsidering Lowry presence as the veteran mentor on the team. Despite winning the 2019 NBA Championship, 13.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 7.5 assists has had little no use during Butler’s absence. He can be considered as a solid role player, nothing more. Putting up 7.8 points per game in the playoffs only to lose to the Boston Celtics only made everyone question his worth even more.
Ric Bucher of Fox Sports shared his thoughts of Pat Riley’s decision last season. “He hoped that point guard Kyle Lowry would be the finishing piece to another championship-caliber team last season, but after posting the best record in the East, the team lost to Boston in the conference finals.”
“Lowry, plagued by several nagging injuries, played in only 10 of their 18 postseason contests and was a shell of himself, averaging 7.8 points on 29.1 percent shooting. Depending on how this season goes for the Heat in general and Lowry in particular, Westbrook might be a worthwhile gamble.”
An executive of the Heat organisation had apparently said that Russell Westbrook to their roster only “makes sense” and that they will be able to “rehabilitate” anybody to make things work. In Russ’ case, there is not much rehabilitating to be done but just adjusting to new roles or responsibilities. It was the biggest issue with the Los Angeles Lakers as Russ is usually the kind to lead.
Brodie has been a consistent 20 points per game scorer ever since his parting with OKC. That along with 7.4 rebounds and 8.4 assists would be of bigger help in the long run. Offensively, they could become much more of a threat.
