Nets star Kevin Durant claps back at Charles Barkley with savage Sixers diss
Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant became the center of attention after losing 4-0 to the Boston Celtics last night becoming the first team out of the playoffs. The Brooklyn Nets shared the best chances of winning the championship this season along with the Los Angeles Lakers and both teams have failed to keep up to the expectations. Now, the Nets have to look at their options or give the roster another chance to come back fully healthy next season.
However, the KD and Kyrie Irving duo plan on sticking together for the next season. Durant opened up about his thoughts on playing another year with his “best friend” he said, “Of course, I would love for him to play more. Life is way more important to me than that. I can’t be pissed off. I can’t end the friendship based on something like that. Our friendship is based off who we are as human beings. The basketball adds to it.”
Kevin Durant speaks on the Nets’ upsetting season
Of course, the team began the season in hopes of being a triple-threat team featuring James Harden. The frustrated beard would force a trade because he found no interest among his teammates to win a championship. KD spoke on the situation saying, “I wish things would’ve been different. I can’t say I was that emotional.”
Prior to Harden’s exit, the team lacked a point guard in Irving which did not affect their game but played a significant role in the trade. Kevin Durant admitted that not having Kyrie around was a challenge, “Him not being around, wanting to be around. Having conversations, missing games, missing playing together. It was not much more I could do. It was out of my control. The best I could do was come to work and be me and make sure the situation in the building was right for everybody.”
Kevin Durant throws shade at Charles Barkley over disrespectful comments
Following their 3-0 deficit, Charles Barkley sounded off on the Nets forward calling him out for being incapable of winning a title. He said, “If you ain’t driving the bus, don’t walk around talkin’ about you a champion.” The former NBA superstar slammed KD for the Nets’ back-to-back losses against the Celtics. This comment was a partial jab to when the veteran all-star won his two titles in Golden State under Stephen Curry.
Kevin Durant did not take the comment lightly and expressed his feelings on social media with a pair of Chuckster”s on the Sixers. Chuck has never won a championship in his career and Durant may have been salty about the comments. Out of the two pictures, one was captioned, “where would chuck be without the big homies.” In those pictures was Barkley along with his former teammates Moses Malone, Julius Erving, and Maurice Cheeks.
