Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets have finally made it to the postseason after winning the play-in tournament. In the first-round series they are going all in and against the Jayson Tatum-led Boston Celtics. The regular season for the Brooklyn Nets and especially Kyrie Irving was a complete rollercoaster. As he was the most trolled, criticized, and hated player for his decision of remaining unvaccinated. He was even ruled out from playing basketball but eventually brought back as a part-time player. Now things are good as he is back and allowed to hoop everywhere and last night he also showcased his playoffs ball in game 1 against the Boston Celtics.

The Boston Celtics hosted the Brooklyn Nets at TD Garden for Game 1 of the first-round series. As expected, the game was closely contested and head to head there were many lead changes throughout the game. Jayson Tatum came up in clutch and closed it with a game-winning buzzer-beating lay-up. It was his career’s first game-winning buzzer-beater. The final box score stands at 114-115 favoring the Boston Celtics. The game just made it sure that the Celtics are out for revenge against Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets and so were the fans present in the Arena as they left no opportunity to heckle Kyrie Irving.

Kyrie Irving in the game dropped 39 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds as he single-handedly carried the offensive end of the Brooklyn Nets while bending and breaking Boston Celtics’ defense. Kevin Durant was limited to 23 points, 3 assists, and 4 rebounds as most of his shots were closely contested and in transition. During the game and even after the game there were many exchanges between Kyrie Irving and the fans where the pressure was equal as Uncle Drew decided to talk back the same way they do and started showcasing his trash-talking skills to them with a middle finger out. It was very clear that he won’t tolerate or entertain any dirt from the Celtics’ crowd.

During the post-game interview, a reporter questioned Kyrie Irving about his exchanges with the crowd present at TD Garden. Replying to it the All-Star point guard quoted: “It’s the same energy they have for me, and I’m gonna have the same energy for them. And it’s not every fan. I don’t want to attack every Boston fan. But when people start yelling, ‘pu**y’ or ‘bi**h’ and ‘f**k you’ and all that stuff, there’s only so much you can take as a competitor. We’re the ones who are expected to be docile and be humble and take a humble approach. Nah, f**k that. It’s the playoffs. It is what it is… I am not really focused on it. It is just fun.”

Kyrie Irving in the interview made sure he will go back and forth with anyone heckling him since he has been there and knows all about those antiques. In fact, he also has some history with the Boston Celtics where he was supposed to resign with them but ended up stamping their logo, hurting their feelings, and disrespecting the franchise around. All of these surely adds to the series as it is personal from both the ends and eventually makes the game more competitive. The Celtics-Nets clash for the first round will surely be the best one from the postseason as both the teams have the potential to turn it all around and be on the winning side. The Boston Celtics as of now have a 1-0 lead and will be hosting the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday for Game 2 at TD Garden.
