The game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Miami Heat became one of the most intense games of the night. As two of the giants in the Eastern Conference took the floor to face each other, the game got closer as the minutes passed. The game was decided in the last 3 seconds by Royce O’Neale‘s floater. While the Nets won the game 102-101, they also suffered a big setback when Kevin Durant left the game with an apparent knee injury.

With 6 seconds left on the clock in the 4th quarter, the Heat were leading by one point with a 100–101 score. Kyrie Irving took a long three-point shot to give the Nets a two-point lead but missed. Yuta Watanabe and O’Neale fought for the rebound in the paint. O’Neale caught the ball and quickly scored with a floater to give the Brooklyn Nets a one-point lead. Miami couldn’t score in the remaining 3 seconds.

Of the total 40 games played this season, in their first 20 games, the Nets had a 9-11 record. However, since then, they have won 18 of their next 20 games. Irving scored a game-high 29 points for the Nets and took care of most of the offense in the absence of Kevin Durant. He shot 10 of 21 shots from the field and also 6 of 15 shots from beyond the arc. Other Nets stars also showed up big in the team’s win, as Nic Claxton scored 13 points along with 11 rebounds, and Seth Curry also had 14 points.

Kevin Durant played for only 30 minutes in the game before leaving with a knee injury in the third quarter. He appeared to have hurt his knee while Jimmy Butler drove for the basket. Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn said that Durant had hurt his right knee and will be evaluated tomorrow. “Right knee, he’ll get evaluated tomorrow and then hopefully I’ll have some more info,” Vaughn said. “Most likely it will include imaging, just to make sure we’re good.”

Durant is the primary offensive weapon for the Nets and his absence would hurt the Nets big time. However, Vaughn and the Nets are hoping it’s not serious and he can return in the next few games.
