The Denver Nuggets have officially been crowned as the 2022-23 NBA Championships. With another home win in Game 5 against the Miami Heat, Nikola Jokic finally led his side to their first-ever championship. Moreover, the Center was also awarded the Finals MVP award. Although it came as no surprise for fans and critics, many were happy to see Jokic win what he had been working so hard for for the past few years.

After the Nuggets Center achieved the remarkable feat, a lot of fans are drawing up comparisons. Throughout the 2022-23 NBA regular season, there was an intense debate as to which player is better. Nikola Jokic or Joel Embiid. Both players have been playing exceptionally and are crucial assets to their teams.

However, after the Philadelphia 76ers were eliminated from in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, Embiid didn’t have much to make his case. However, after the Nuggets won the title, many fans and critics also believe that Nikola Jokic was robbed of another MVP award.

Joel Embiid averaged a whopping 33.1 points per game this season. He also took 10.2 rebounds while dishing 4.2 assists on average before the postseason. In the playoffs, however, his average came down to 23.7 points per game with 9.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists. On the other hand, Nikola Jokic averaged 24.5 points per game with 11.8 rebounds and 9.8 assists. In the postseason, the numbers climbed up to 30 points per game with 13.5 rebounds and 9.5 assists.

Although Joel Embiid had a better average than Nikola Jokic in the regular season, many fans believe that the Nuggets Center was more deserving. Many argue that Jokic was a better team player and led his side really well whereas Embiid and Co. faltered under pressure. Some even claimed that the Philadelphia 76ers star won the award after ‘crying’ for it. Here are a few reactions from Twitter.

Although fans might debate and discuss their opinions, Nikola Jokic and Co. will sleep as champions of the 2022-23 NBA season. Their perfect season run consisted of a phenomenal team effort, tremendous hard work, and discipline. Moreover, the phenomenal duo of Jokic and Jamal Murray saw the team through on the tough days. Going into the off-season, they will have every reason to smile and laugh about.
