LeBron James, Patrick Beverley and Russell Westbrook
The Los Angeles Lakers had a very forgettable campaign last season with winning 33 games and losing 49, the lakers were only a shadow of their 2019-20 season self, they couldn’t make it to the playoffs after a loss to the Phoenix Suns in their final game. The franchise saw an injury laden squad with Lebron James and Anthony Davis staying injured for most part of their campaign and Russell Westbrook the wonderchild of the team couldn’t do any magic either to save the ship from sinking
The lakers are training hard in order to exorcise the ghosts of the previous seasons however one of their own was seen rubbing salt in to their wounds, normally one would expect the Celtics or Clippers to take jabs owing to their fierce rivalry however the newest recruit on the team, Patrick Beverley fired shots on the team and proved how he’s a clipper at heart.
Patrick Beverley on the new season with Lakers
Patrick Beverley’s confidence is unquestionably admirable. This man emanates confidence, which is one of the factors that has allowed him to achieve the heights that he has. On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers announced Beverley as the team’s newest recruit, and the ceremony was not without a few memorable moments. However, one incident stood out when Beverley decided to take a jab at new teammates LeBron James and Anthony Davis on their disappointing 2021-22 season.
Beverley revealed a part of himself at his first press conference that he rarely shows in interviews. When asked what it will be like to play with James and Davis, his reaction was simple yet savage “They’re gonna be playing with me. I made the playoffs last year, they didn’t. It’s a difference.” Patrick Beverley’s response was both direct and genuine. Patrick Beverley is pretty much the reason the Timberwolves made a rare appearance in the play-offs. He was the missing piece that Timberwolves’ youthful yet skilled roster needed to capitalize its success from the year prior
The same is expected from him at the lakers, his tenacity and enthusiasm are exactly what would make him an intriguing backcourt partner for arch-rival Russell Westbrook, if he can motivate the players like he did in Minnesota and hold the defense when it counts the most then Lakers are definitely looking at a winning recipe with Beverley managing the defences and Lebron-Davis taking up the offense
