Ever since the tragic passing of NBA icon Kobe Bryant a few years ago, the world of basketball has mourned the loss of a true legend. An icon and an inspiration to millions, his death shocked the sporting world.

However, amidst the grief and sorrow, the overwhelming support for Bryant’s family has been nothing short of exceptional. And amongst those big-hearted people is Lakers legend Pau Gasol who has been a true friend till now.

In a heartful message, Gasol wished Kobe Bryant’s daughter Natalia Diamante Bryant her birthday with a post that read:

While the tweet in itself is wholesome, the two families’ friendship dates long from the two icon’s playing days. The pair, Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol were not just a formidable duo, but friends that went beyond sports.

Both legends of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise, who went on to win back-to-back championships in 2009 and 2010, were a pair that excelled on the court. They formed a bond of brotherhood that is still strong to date.

After the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant in a helicopter crash, the world felt like they lost a chuck of a sporting world.
