“People don’t understand how big Westbrook is!” Paul Pierce reveals REAL reason behind LA Clippers struggling
The LA Clippers are currently 4th in the Western Conference.

Led by four superstars, including two MVPs, James Harden and Russell Westbrook, the LA Clippers stand 4th in the West. The squad has been struggling recently, being 5-5 in the last 10 games. While the Clippers can easily manage to stay within the playoff berths, the team can be much better. The Clippers have shown their dominance earlier this season, compared to now, where the team is simply lacking in certain aspects.
One of them is, having the role of a leader. Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and Harden haven’t been seen as active leaders of the team. Though true contributors, the fans have yet to see the leadership side of them. Recently, Paul Pierce highlighted Westbrook’s potential to be the voice of the team. Meanwhile, Russ is recovering from an injury and is expected to be back before the playoffs.
Pierce said on KG Certified with Kevin Garnett:
People don't undertsand how big Westbrook is for that team. Like who's the voice outside, you know you got leadership on the sideline, but you know you got to have leadership in that locker room... Like I respect Kawhi, and I resepct where Paul Goerge is coming from and I respect Harden. But the loudest voice in that room is Westbrook, cause he show the most passion, he show the most energy... So since he been out, it's now wonder why they look like that.Paul Pierce said
Westbrook is averaging 11.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists while coming off the bench this season. Though ‘Brodie’ is not in action most of the time, his voice will help the Clippers maintain their track. One has seen Russ’ passion for the game – the triple-double king has a leadership role built within him.
Russell Westbrook can be of great help on the bench
In-game leadership is expected from the best player on the team. Considering where the Clippers stand, the squad could use Brodie’s presence on the court. Last year, Westbrook led the Clippers against the Suns during the postseason in the absence of Leonard and George.
Despite the series loss in five games, fans saw the determination in Russ’ game, leading the team over a much stronger offensive squad. This year, the Clippers are in a much better position to make a deep playoff run.
With just about 13 games left in the season, the Clippers will look to keep a steady balance in their game and position in the West. It will be interesting to see how far the Clippers can go in the playoffs this year.
