This is the version of AD the Lakers need,” Paul Pierce says Anthony Davis can match upto Giannis Antetokounmpo’s MVP standard with current form

This is the version of AD the Lakers need,” Paul Pierce says Anthony Davis can match upto Giannis Antetokounmpo’s MVP standard with current form

Paul Pierce and Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis has not only reignited himself as one of the big men-scorers in the league but has increased the Los Angeles Lakers‘ production as well. There is a wide consensus in the NBA community about Giannis Antetokounmpo being the most dominant player in modern basketball. Sa e to say that the Milwaukee Bucks’ marquee is big and athletic, and his dominance on the offensive glass is unquestionably better than any big in the league.

Former Boston Celtics great and NBA champion Paul Pierce thinks there is nobody in the NBA who could evenly match Giannis. Pierce said, “He (AD) is the only one who could match up with Greek Freak.” Milwaukee Bucks have one of the most elite defensive lineups on the floor.

The last time Lakers and Bucks met, Davis went on a tear and scored 44 points with 3 blocks. AD’s performance against Giannis was his statement game. Even Pierce was more than convinced. He said, “When they went head-to-head and he gave him that 40 pieces, I was like oh okay!

Co-host Kevin Garnett also raised a question that has been lingering around for more than a year. KG remarked, “Can he keep this up, can he stay consistent on this level and how long can you actually ride this way?”

NBA analysts and executives have long been asking Anthony Davis to take the torch from LeBron and be the leader, then perhaps the Lakers could have a chance. Pierce said, “He needs to take over and be the guy. If he is in the MVP talks, then the Lakers got something.

Can Anthony Davis and LeBron James bring another championship to the Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James and Anthony Davis

Despite the fact that both Anthony Davis and LeBron James are having an impressive season so far, the Lakers can barely capitalize on the duo’s greatness in crunch time. A lot of blame goes to the below-average role players on the Lakers’ roster.  The numbers might not indicate so because they have two of the best playmakers in the league James and Westbrook, hence the scoring comes easy to them.

Lonnie Walker IV and Austin Reaves are two of the players scoring in the double digits. They have been impressive in their role and are among the reasons the Lakers are having success against teams lately. But they tend to become witnesses of the LeBron-AD show in the fourth quarter.

Wenyen Gabriel, Patrick Beverley, Dennis Schroder, and Thomas Bryant have largely failed to produce their impact on the game.

That being said, if the Los Angeles Lakers want to be successful with Bron and AD still playing at a high level, perhaps changing the roster is what they need.
