“Lakers aren’t serious contenders” Paul Pierce takes a wild shot at LeBron James and Co. gaining hopes of revival

LeBron James has always proven that he can be a strong point on any team at any time. Last season was an example of it after he averaged insane numbers that only a few 37 year olds have done in the past. But Hall of Famer Paul Pierce strongly feels that Bron will not be able to lead them through another season.

“I’m not seeing the Lakers as a legit contender. For one, LeBron is a year older. Yeah, he averaged 30, but how much longer can he do that? And now you’re gonna put that pressure on him at the age of 37, 38 to go out there and help carry A.D. He can’t stay healthy. But then who the other moving pieces? Who your role players?”

The “Truth” has some fair points in his argument but LeBron James has been the type of player to prove everyone’s criticism wrong consistently. Last season, nobody expected him to average 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game especially after he worked through injuries two season consecutively.

LeBron James has never had a serious injury to deal with nor has he ever shown physical weakness in any form. Unfortunately, it all begin after the age of 35 and post joining the Los Angeles Lakers. Putting aside his first two seasons, his last two have been terrible.

During 2020-21 Season the Lakers finished 7th mainly due to the King’s absence for a good proportion of the regular season. He appeared in the post-season only to get beaten by the Phoenix Suns. Last season, LeBron appeared for 56 games but did not have any backup as Anthony Davis was severely injured.

Moving ahead into the 2022-23 Season, AD will be the projected focal point of the Lakers offense. Although he will have improve his outside shooting from averaging 18% from beyond the arc. Newly appointed head coach Darvin Ham claims Russell Westbrook will play a pivotal role on defense along with Patrick Beverley as well.
