The final stages of the NBA season bring a lot of trade rumors across all teams. As the Los Angeles Lakers are now eliminated from title contention, rumors of a significant change in the roster has begun. Fans and media had already started speculating a possible trade for Kyrie Irving by the Lakers in the off-season. However, with LA looking for a championship, they are expected to explore other options too. Amid whispers of potential targets, a new rumor of Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young linking up with LeBron James in LA has emerged.

Trae Young has been a magnificent player for the Atlanta Hawks. Although they haven’t won a championship, Young’s brilliant scoring has helped them qualify and stay in contention. The Hawks were once again in the race for the NBA title, however, they fell to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. Young, however, averaged about 29.2 points per game with 3.7 rebounds per game and 10.2 assists per game in the 2023 playoffs.

Trae Young is currently under a five-year $215,159,700 contract with the Atlanta Hawks. On June 21, 2018, he was selected with the fifth overall pick by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2018 NBA draft. However, the guard was traded to the Hawks and has played for them ever since. Although Young has been loyal to the side, he too would want to win an NBA championship ring. As of now, there’s no clear confirmation on whether or not Young will go to the Lakers. However, LA is reported to considering making a move.

As Trae Young‘s trade rumors take storm, Los Angeles Lakers fans are not really happy. They took to Twitter to express their disapproval of the Hawks guard being a trade target. Instead, many have asked for James former teammate in Kyrie Irving as a better option. Here are a few reactions:

Although it seems rather unprobeable, NBA trades have a tendency to shock everyone. While some believe the Lakers don’t have enough assets to make a trade for Trae Young, many aren’t impressed with the idea. It will be interesting to see the moves made by the Lakers this off season. Moreover, with he suspected retirement of LeBron James, the predictability of a new roster with Anthony Davis at the center is rather low.
