RANKED: 5 best father-duos in NBA history

Stephen Curry with father and brother

The sports fraternity has many talented stars and NBA is no exception for it. Also, it’s very obvious that kids watch their star parents perform best on the field, and court. Inspired by that they also tend to follow their parents. As for NBA, we have many current players who had their father/mother making names in the league. Some even outshine their parents. It certainly helps to have family members as professional athletes, because that sets the tone for players and guidelines to have successful careers.

With the recent Championship success by Stephen Curry and the Warriors, we got a chance to see some of the stars with their parents. So on Father’s day, we look back at the top 5 father-son duos in NBA history. People may add their favorite duo, but these 5 do stand tall amongst them. We will be ranking them based on individual success and statistics combined.

A lesser-known pair for many current generation viewers would be the father-son duo of Rick Barry and Brent Barry. Brent spent 14 seasons in the league and played in 6 different franchises. Known for his slim body structure, “Bones” Barry was a three-point shooter by nature. He averaged 9.3 PPG on 40.5% shooting from deep. Brent never started a game for any of his team but was an effective role player. He won 2 NBA Championships with San Antonio Spurs in 2005, and 2007. He also won the 1996 Slam Dunk Contest.

This could be a very rare combination of a father-son duo where the father has had a more dominant career in the league. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987, Rick Barry was a member of the NBA’s 50th and 75th-anniversary teams. He was a 12-time All-Star with the NBA and ABA and even won the NBA championship in 1975 with the Golden State Warriors. Rick also won the Finals MVP and led the league in steals in the same season. Rick won just 1 Championship but averaged 25.7 PPG and 10.6 RPG. 10 seasons, split between ABA and NBA. This father-son duo has 3 NBA titles combined.
