On Thursday, December 13, Draymond Green received his third ejection in 15 games this season. He was flagged with a flagrant foul 2 for striking Jusuf Nurkic of the Phoenix Suns while representing the Golden State Warriors. Notably, his most recent act of violent conduct involved a chokehold on Minnesota Timberwolves’ Rudy Gobert.
Responding to his actions, the NBA handed him an indefinite suspension. Previously, he had completed a five-game suspension related to the incident with Gobert. Following the NBA’s announcement of the indefinite suspension, American rapper and TV producer 50 Cent stepped in to defend Green.
In a post on Instagram, rapper 50 Cent wrote:
This fool is my favorite basketball player, WTF Is wrong wit him, that was a mistake, I will apologize for him. Come on it’s a physical game.50 Cent via Instagram
Despite Draymond apologizing to Nurkic, he must recognize that actions bear consequences, and the Warriors must adapt in his absence. The Warriors are a team below .500 this season, and Green plays an important role in anchoring the defense. Draymond has averaged 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists this season.
Rudy Gobert responds to Draymond’s indefinite suspension.
Rudy Gobert experienced Draymond Green’s violent conduct when the NBA last suspended Green. He spoke out harshly after the chokehold incident. Now, after the Nurkic incident, Gobert spoke about Green’s most recent suspension. Speaking to ESPN after an eight-point, 12-rebound performance during the Timberwolves’ 119-101 win over the Mavericks.
Check out what Rudy Gobert said about Green in the below tweet:
Gobert believed that the NBA’s harsh measures policy was necessary to prioritize the safety of other players. But it stopped short of saying if the indefinite suspension of Green was fair.
The Warriors held a meeting to discuss Green’s indefinite suspension and the actions and behaviors that led to it. The Warriors lost their first game without Green and hope to return to winning ways when they welcome the Brooklyn Nets to the Chase Center.
