Shaquille O’Neal accuses Zion Williamson of not having the championship motivation
The Los Angeles Lakers went up against the New Orleans Pelicans in the semi-finals of the in-season tournament where the Lakers swayed their way to a 133-89 victory. However, the loss against the Lakers got Zion at the center of extreme criticism for his performance and his fitness and one of the critics was none other than NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal who accused the star forward of not being championship-focused.
Shaq in his statement made it clear that he wasn’t in any way intending to criticize the star forward but after Zion’s disappointing performance, he wanted to share his career experiences as an athlete and said,
He doesn't have that look. Like, I'm not the greatest ever but I know a look when I see it. … Tiger Woods had that look. Jack Nicholson had that look.
The Pelicans took a tough beating from the Lakers with Zion Williamson just scoring 13 points in 26 minutes of game time. In 19 games, the star forward is averaging an all-time low of 22 points per game.
Post their loss, New Orleans is placed at the 10th position in the Western Conference standings with a record of 12 wins and 11 losses.
