The NBA’s regular season is just a week away from its finale and that will also cap off the race to the MVP. Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo have been on top for a while now and recently faced off a couple of times in the last 2 weeks. Joel Embiid has been under scrutiny, thanks to his statements about Jokic and the Big Man has not seen things go his way during matchups with fellow MVP contenders.
Joel Embiid was expected to go against Nikola Jokic on March 27 after the former hyped the matchup with his pre-game press conference but eventually sat out. Fans and even commentators lambasted Embiid for sitting out. The 76ers took on the Milwaukee Bucks yesterday in another MVP matchup and the Bucks blew out the 76ers 117-104. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 33 points and 14 rebounds in 32 minutes of play, while Embiid managed to score 28 points and 9 rebounds. Netizens left no opportunity to slam Joel Embiid after losses to both his fellow MVP contenders.
Embiid, nevertheless is on pace to defend his scoring title. The Big Man is averaging 33 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. The 76ers have already secured a playoff spot and currently stand third in the Eastern Conference with a 51-27 record.

The 76ers have been unable to get past the second round since 2019
Over the last three years, the Philadelphia 76ers have had mediocre results in the playoffs. In the 2019 playoffs, they were eliminated in the Eastern Conference semifinals by the Toronto Raptors in a dramatic Game 7 buzzer-beater by Kawhi Leonard.
In the 2020 playoffs, the Sixers were swept in the first round by the Boston Celtics, leading to significant changes in the team’s front office and coaching staff.
The Sixers once again reached the Eastern Conference semifinals in the 2021 playoffs, but they were ultimately eliminated in seven games by the Atlanta Hawks. The Sixers had been the top seed in the Eastern Conference and had a 2-1 series lead over the Hawks, but they were unable to close out the series despite leading by 26 points in Game 5. They were eliminated by the MIami Heat in the 2022 East Semis. Overall, the Sixers have struggled to reach the Eastern Conference Finals in recent years.
