The Los Angeles Lakers made a statement in Game 3 of their Western Conference semifinal series against the Golden State Warriors. After getting blown out by 27 points in Game 2, the Lakers responded with a 30-point win 127-97 of their own on Saturday. However, not everyone seemed convinced by the Lakers’ performance. Many fans on NBA Twitter blamed the referees for ruining the game by calling too many fouls on Warriors defensive stalwart Draymond Green.
Green, who had a near triple-double in Game 2 with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists, was limited to just two points on 1-of-4 shooting and five personal fouls in 23 minutes of action in Game 3. The Lakers took control of the game in the second and third quarters, outscoring the Warriors 63-38 in that span. They led by as many as 32 points and rested their starters for most of the fourth quarter. They now hold a 2-1 series lead.
Draymond Green’s foul trouble began in the second quarter when he was called for his third foul after the Lakers challenged a charge he drew on Anthony Davis. The referees overturned the call and ruled it as a blocking foul on Green, sending him to the bench. Green was visibly upset with the decision and argued with the officials.
Green came back in the third quarter, but picked up his fourth and fifth fouls in quick succession, forcing him to sit again. He never got into a rhythm and could not impact the game on either end of the floor.

NBA Twitter reacts to Draymond Green’s Game 3 struggles

NBA Twitter was not happy with the way the referees handled Green’s situation, accusing them of favoring the Lakers and disrupting the flow of the game. Here are some of the tweets:
The Warriors will have to regroup and adjust after losing Game 3 by a wide margin. They will need more production from their role players, who were outscored by the Lakers’ bench 49-36. To add to their woes, Warriors’ consistency lacked from their star duo Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, who combined for 38 points but shot only 14-of-35 from the field and 7-of-19 from three-point range.
Game 4 will be a pivotal one for both teams, as the Lakers will look to take a commanding 3-1 series lead while the Warriors will try not to fall into a 1-3 hole. The Warriors will have to bring their best effort and execution to overcome the Lakers’ talent and experience. On the other hand, the Lakers will have to maintain their intensity and focus to avoid another let-down like Game 2.
