Ja Morant has been a popular name in the league for a while now. Once popular as a youngster with gifted athleticism and scoring prowess, the Memphis Grizzlies guard is now notoriously popular as a man who flashed a gun at a strip club on March 4. The Colorado Police and the NBA took immediate action and suspended Morant for 2 days initially, and increased that suspension for an indefinite period of time.
Morant was apparently at Aunchy Shotgun Willie’s in Glendale, CO, on March 2 with a stripper on his lap inside in the VIP room — and most of the floor covered in cash. Morant was believed to have spent about $50,000 in tips. However, American football wide receiver Dez Bryant came out in support of Morant and defended the Grizzlies’ star on Twitter. The Wide Receiver went “The strip club got paid for the videos and photos of Ja Morant from the Ny post… Athletes entertainers please don’t spend a dime or step another foot in there out of respect for Ja…. Whoever owned that strip club sold that video for self benefit… Athletes I’m going to keep giving game”.
Glendale Police is believed to have investigated Morant but dropped charges against him as there was not enough evidence to charge him with a crime. His suspension has not been revoked yet and is expected to remain for an indefinite period of time. Prior to his suspension, Morant suited up on 53 occasions and averaged 27.1 points and 8.2 assists on 46 percent shooting.

Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr have not let Ja’s absence impact the Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies went from fan favourites to public enemies in no time. Guards Dillon Brooks and Ja Morant have played a major role in shaping the above image. Morant’s shenanigans and Brooks’ tendency to get into altercations with fellow NBA players has not been received well by the fans. However, despite all the external noise, the Grizzlies have managed to firmly hold onto the third seed in the wild Western Conference.
Shooting Guard Desmond Bane has been phenomenal and has not let Morant’s absence affect the team. He is averaging 21.1 points while shooting at an impressive 41.1 percent from beyond the arc. Jaren Jackson Jr on the other hand has taken care of all the major defensive assignments.
He has blocked 155 shots this season which happens to be the third most and is currently placed second at the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year Ladder. The Grizzlies have won 5 of their 9 games since the all-star break, including emphatic wins over the Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers.
