“You wanna win right? Then f****g do what I tell you, like that type of s**t” Richard Jefferson says Ime Udoka has directness in his coaching style
Richard Jefferson and Ime Udoka
The Boston Celtics‘ success this season may be linked back to the hiring of Ime Udoka, a first-time head coach. For the past nine seasons, the Nigerian-American has worked as an assistant coach in the NBA at San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76’ers and Brooklyn Nets before getting appointed as the Head Coach of the Celtics in 2021. Despite the fact that Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the pillars of a solid team and Marcus Smart with the essence of a competitor, Ime Udoka’s coaching approach was described by former NBA star Richard Jefferson as direct and respectful.
Game 2 loss Vs Warriors.
With a 107-88 victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the 2022 NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors evened the series at 1-1. In Game 2, Boston couldn’t avoid another disastrous third quarter as the Warriors outscored the Celtics 35-14 in the last 12 minutes, extending their lead to 23 points. The Celtics withdrew their starters early in the fourth quarter with the Warriors leading by nearly 30 points, and Jayson Tatum ended with 28 points in 34 minutes.
Richard Jefferson slams Udoka’s coaching style.
Ime Udoka‘s first season with the Celtics has been a huge success for him. In his first season as a head coach, he has a chance to end Boston’s 14-year drought for a title. “You can see the directness in his eyes, like ‘what the f*** is you doing? Why the f*** are you here?’ And then you start to see the explanation.” Jefferson said on the Road Trippin’ podcast about Ime Udoka. He also added: “Ime be on them man in a good way, like in a respectful way. This is what you want, you wanna win, right? Then f***ing do what I tell you like that type of shit.”

Does Udoka have what it takes to win a championship with the Celtics?
Ime Udoka’s recruiting had nothing to do with his ability to lead the Boston Celtics to the Eastern Conference finals or it didn’t depend on taking the Celtics to the championship game and winning it. With Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown at the top, he has converted his group into a formidable force as Marcus Smart, the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year, has attracted the league’s attention while Al Horford is playing at a high level for the first time in his 14-year career. He has by all specifications outperformed every expectation by taking the Celtics to the finals as for the first time since 2008 as they got a chance to win the championship.
