“We cannot judge Ben until 50 games into the season!” Richard Jefferson states why he hasn’t given up on Ben Simmons despite sluggish start
Ben Simmons and Richard Jefferson
Ben Simmons is back in the NBA headlines and honestly, he is a regular name here, especially for many unwelcoming and bad reasons. The Australian star was the most hated and criticized player for the past year and everyone had something or the other two say about him. But now when he’s progressing and advancing towards a successful return with the Brooklyn Nets. There aren’t many who are backing up Ben Simmons. But Richard Jefferson still has some hopes for the star.
Ben Simmons earlier this season was horrible and wasn’t even close to the expectations everyone had around him. Many thought he was washed and will never be back with the form we knew him for. But that’s not the story and Ben Simmons now looks good and if continued with the same pace he’ll soon be very near to his past self.
But the haters for him, especially the Philly fans and many more from analysts, commentators to even league executives are still judging Ben Simmons and criticizing him. But Richard Jefferson recently has handed out a reality check to them by doing nothing but speaking facts.

Richard Jefferson’s take on returning Ben Simmons
Ben Simmons has returned back to the league with the Nets. But he is yet to have himself a successful return and be like his past-self, so he can ball out on both ends of the court as he did in Philadelphia. Many around the league aren’t even ready to give him a fair chance and Richard Jefferson’s recent take has finally done justice to the all-star guard.
As appearing on “The Ryen Russillo Podcast,” he discussed the Brooklyn Nets and Ben Simmons. And, while doing so he mentioned: “Prior to his terrible post-season… He was considered one of the top 1 or 2 candidates for Defensive Player of the Year… Then he had a really sh*tty month and then it progressed into a really bad year cauz he didn’t play basketball. Then at the end right when he’s to come back he hurts his back and everyone is like ‘Oh this fuc**** guy’… He has back surgery.“
Further, Richard Jefferson added: “So he has a year off and he has surgery. So the first 10-15 games, the game is moving so f***ing fast. If you’ve taken a year off, and you haven’t seen a 100 mph fastball, that thing is looking like a 200 mph fastball… The first few games it was like nothing out there, his head was spinning.”
Then Richard Jefferson specifically spoke about Ben Simmons and how he was poorly performing and getting judged while being in a very unique and chaotic situation. And, then speaking about his progression he added: “Over the last five games, you’ve seen progression. He’d score 11, then he scored 15, I’m not saying his scoring is gonna keep ascending, but he’s getting it. … We cannot judge Ben until 50 games into the season!”
Richard Jefferson also gave out examples of Russell Westbrook and Klay Thompson to make his take more sensible and he is very right with it. And, even Kyrie Irving has earlier mentioned how it’s necessary for us to give a chance to the Australian star. Ben Simmons really needs some more time to get his past self, form and confidence back and 50 games is a good mark given out by RJ. Once Ben is able to get back on that spot the Nets are going to destroy the league and have a real shot at winning the championship.
