“Thankyou for meaningless content on podcasts” $100 Million Ringer’s man launches a sarcastic attack on Kevin Durant after he decided to stay in Brooklyn
The Kevin Durant trade controversy has ended two months after the forward made a trade request. He has chosen to stay with the organization for the upcoming season, ending any reports that he would play for another team. Two weeks ago, Durant strengthened his stance by delivering an ultimatum: keep Sean Marks and Steve Nash or keep me, weeks after asking Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai for a trade. Now that training camp is just a few weeks away, KD has resolved to end their argument and will rejoin the squad this year. This was unexpected given how much turmoil KD’s trade request caused in the NBA.
There were certainly a lot of conflicting stories and speculations regarding Kevin Durant’s potential destinations as everyone was waiting for him to be traded. In a recent tweet, Bill Simmons of “The Ringer” congratulated Kevin Durant and the Nets for contributing interesting, thought-provoking, but ultimately pointless content for the publication’s podcasts and written articles. However, now that Durant has chosen to resolve his issues with the Nets, all the speculating about where he would end up and all the speculating about his trade destination will have to come to a temporary halt.
Kevin Durant career numbers and his controversial stint with the Nets
Kevin Durant is one of the league’s most lethal scorers who is a two-time NBA champion, former Rookie of the Year, four-time scoring champion, league MVP, and Finals MVP. Durant is tied for third most in NBA history with Allen Iverson and George Gervin with four scoring titles. Durant was an All-Star for 10 seasons in a row, starting eight of the games, and winning MVP of the All-Star Game twice. Durant made an enduring impact on the international stage as well as being the all-time leader in points for Team USA and a three-time Olympic gold medalist.
The Brooklyn Nets were enjoying themselves three years ago after signing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in 2019 free agency, turning the franchise into an imminent contender in the Eastern Conference. Only one postseason series was won by Brooklyn at Durant’s three years at the franchise. Even though he was out for the first season of his contract due to an Achilles injury, Durant was expected to help Brooklyn win a championship. Amazingly, throughout their time with the Nets, Durant and Irving played together in just 58 of 247 games. The two rarely played together on the court because of their injuries and Irving’s reluctance to getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
Bill Simmons and his hilarious tweet on KD’s decision to stay
Bill Simmons, the million dollar guy for “The Ringer”, was all snarky or perhaps even really complimenting the two-time Finals MVP for providing practically every sports outlet with plenty of content to fill the pages. Following the revelation that the Nets superstar asked Brooklyn to send him somewhere else, loads of Kevin Durant material about his past, present, and future have been published by every corner of the sports media business. The Brooklyn Nets, however, are once again a contender as a result of Kevin Durant sticking with the team, thus it is quite probable that experts will continue to talk about them and their prospects to win the title in the future.
Although this Nets core is unlikely to remain intact through next summer, the combined might of Ben Simmons, Kyrie Irving, and Durant could just be enough to win Brooklyn a championship. But it’s a humiliating turn of events for Durant and t o make such a spectacle and then have your requests refused truly demonstrates how little influence KD actually has over the team. Despite the fact that the Eastern Conference has other strong teams, it is obvious that the Brooklyn Nets now that Durant is back in the fold have a lot higher chance of winning. Hopefully, the team will field a competitive squad the following season.
