The NBA team New York Knicks recently signed 22-year-old RJ Barrett for a whopping $120 million four-year extension and made history while signing this deal. He became the youngest $100 million player and the first Knickerbocker in 23 years to acclaim an extension in the first round after being drafted by the New York-based franchise. RJ Barrett is a young budding player known for his gameplay. Since joining Knicks in 2019, he has only escalated upwards with his timely performances.

American columnist Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted the news of another history-making deal. It was rumored that the Knicks are trying to acquire Donovan Mitchell in place of RJ Barrett, but this doesn’t mean that the Knicks are regretting the million dollars deal they made with Barrett. With the kind of development Barrett has shown as a player over the years, he deserves that amount of money. Barrett averaged 20.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists on 40.8 percent shooting from the field in the 2021-2022 season.

Who is RJ Barrett?

Rowan Alexander Barrett, popularly known as RJ Barrett, is a canadian professional basketball player. He was born in Toronto and is the son of former NBA player Rowan Barrett. He started playing for the New York Knicks in the NBA league after the franchise in the 2019 draft picked him. Barrett played with the Duke Blue Devils for a year before joining the Knicks. He was named MVP at the 2017 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World cup after he led his team to a gold medal win. He will be playing for the New York Knicks this season but again the off-season isn’t predictable at all.
