“He couldn’t win one game himself on a 73-win team” Rob Parker believes Stephen Curry wouldn’t be among the best if it wasn’t for Kevin Durant

Rob Parker trying to devalue Stephen Curry and his legacy
Golden State Warriors won the 2022 NBA Championship with marquee shooter and leader of the pact, Stephen Curry winning his 1st NBA Finals MVP award. But Rob Parker wasn’t impressed by Curry’s “Legendary” status after the Championship win as he went onto make a huge claim surrounding Kevin Durant.
Stephen Curry performed exceptionally well in the 2022 NBA playoffs. He won the inaugural “Western Conference Finals MVP” award and topped the same with the NBA Finals MVP award. The 3-point king won both accolades 1st time in his career and that made this season’s championship even more special for Curry. Many analysts and even the media suggested that Curry needed the “Finals MVP” award to put him on the list of “Greats” for the game. And Curry just checked that too. Performing at the highest level, Curry didn’t need any special accolade to prove his legacy, but those acclaims certainly solidify it. Now that Curry adds the missing trophy to his cabinet, everyone should be happy and accept his “stardom”. But Rob Parker still looks for some “Gray” areas in Curry’s shining career.
He points out that there won’t be so many “trophies” for Steph if it wasn’t for Kevin Durant performing for them back in the 2017-2018 seasons. Also, he rubbed salt on the dramatic “3-1” turnaround by the Cavs back in 2016, blaming it on Stephen Curry.
Stephen Curry shouldn’t be so much celebrated s per Rob Parker

Golden State Warriors won their 4th NBA Championship under the leadership of Stephen Curry. He did perform well on both ends of the floor, but his offensive burst just overshadowed his defensive prowess. Still fact remains that he is officially a four-time NBA champion and also a Finals MVP.
After struggling a bit in the season, the Golden State Warriors won their fourth championship in the last eight years, which is incredibly impressive. Curry put on a fantastic show, both in the regular season and postseason where in the 2022 NBA Finals he averaged 31.2 points per game against the Boston Celtics.
A 3-point sharpshooter lived up to his name and was very efficient at 43.7% from his long-range shots. Chris Broussard and Rob Parker discussed Curry on their radio show. Broussard did praise Curry for his outings and his most recent championship. Rob Parker though believes that the point guard would not be held in such high regard if it wasn’t for Kevin Durant.

Many might get surprised by the inclusion of Kevin Durant in the discussion But Parker explained his views as he said, “He’s (Steph) a Top 10 player who couldn’t win one game on a 73-win team. Lost three straight games for the first time the whole season, and lost two of the three games at home, including Game 7. Without the two wins by Durant, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”
Many had the same issue with Stephen Curry’s 3 title wins, as Kevin Durant was named Finals MVP in both series and Curry was overshadowed by Durant’s performance. Warriors had dominant wins in the 2017 and 2018 NBA Finals defeating Cleveland Cavaliers on both occasions. Broussard commented that Steph Curry proved he could win without Durant and that it’s not his fault that the two of them played together.
Unfortunately, Curry’s legacy will always be affected by the 2016 Finals and the historic failure. Also, many might consider Kevin Durant as the “only reason” Warriors won championships in 2017 and 2018. But Curry was still initiating the offense, drawing defenses, and yet scoring important points for the team.
