“I’ve been doing the same ritual since I’m in the league” Russell Westbrook blames the media for misleading ‘bad teammate’ narrative against him
Russell Westbrook
NBA and Los Angeles Lakers deserted player Russell Westbrook, gave clarification, and blamed the media for misleading everyone through the video which went viral. In a recent viral video on Twitter, Russell kept himself away from the team hurdle. The video spread like wildfire and the people quickly commented that Russell was distancing himself from the team.
In the recent video, Westbrook decided to stay away when the players gathered in the hurdle. Russell, when asked later, quickly commented, “Pregame, I’ve been doing that since I’ve been in the league for years, man. I think they just cut the video, and obviously, the internet is going to take it and run with whatever they need to run with. But I’ve been doing the same ritual since I’ve been in the league.”
Russell Westbrook’s wife, Nina Westbrook, responded to a Twitter user who showed several photos and videos of Westbrook following the same solo pregame ritual on other teams he has played for by writing, “Smh… and it begins…” Accordingly, it seems to be a matter of perspective, as the spotlight has been on Westbrook for a long time. People don’t leave a chance to mock or talk badly about him.
Paul George stands in support of Russell Westbrook
Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook has had a tough time in LA. The latest example of the viral video showing Russell ignoring the team hurdle was taken as Russell distancing himself from the Lakers team. The video also shows Patrick Beverley attempting to call Westbrook into the huddle, but the veteran point guard never joined. Russell, in his defense, said that the media personnel was trying to mislead everyone and that the video was cut short.
Westbrook’s former teammate and current LA Clippers star Paul George shared support for the Lakers guard on Twitter. He tweeted, “Keep ya sanity Brodie!! You one of the best and it ain’t stamped enough!!” George has always supported Westbrook, even after the two parted ways in the summer of 2019. With this latest story being made to be something it was not, George came to the defense of his former teammate.
