Russell Westbrook made sure the entire world knew the tragedy of his time at the Los Angeles Lakers in an interview after the Clippers loss.

Russell Westbrook was the usual scapegoat for the Los Angeles Lakers throughout his time with the team. The veteran guard could never catch a break and would always end up being blamed for anything bad happening at the Lakers. From losses to lack of coordination to even broken chemistry, Westbrook was the one always to blame. But, once he was traded to the Utah Jazz and eventually added to the LA Clippers, things immediately changed.
Westbrook was then set to reunite with his former teammate Paul George on the Clippers. This transpired after the Utah Jazz bought him out of his contract. His time in purple and gold ended on a sour note. This was due to an alleged fallout with head coach Darvin Ham and alleged toxicity in the locker room.
When given the opportunity, Westbrook wasted no time in ridiculing the Lakers. He was asked an interesting question by Tomer Azarly during an interview after the Clippers’ exit from the playoffs. Azarly asked the player about when he felt the weight lift off his shoulders and the peace of mind of playing basketball kick in. Westbrook replied by saying, “Once I got traded. Immediately, to be honest. From that moment, honestly, mentally, I was in a better place.”
As the Lakers failed to play to Russ’s strengths, the attention was clearly on his flaws. He wasn’t able to be his most influential version alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis in their setup. Therefore, his game dropped, and eventually, everyone noticed what he wasn’t good at.
However, Westbrook was once again unleashed with the LA Clippers and played some fantastic basketball. Regardless, the team was eliminated by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs in five games.

On Tuesday, Devin Booker led the Phoenix Suns to victory with a stunning 47-point performance, including 25 points in the third quarter. Despite being down by double digits in the second half, the Suns rallied and defeated the visiting Los Angeles Clippers 136-130, securing a spot in the Western Conference semi-finals.
The Suns, seeded fourth, were fueled by Kevin Durant’s 31 points and Deandre Ayton’s 21 points and 11 rebounds. After losing the series’ first game, they went on to win the next four games, dominating the Clippers to clinch the series.
Norman Powell led the way for the Clippers with 27 points, three assists, and two rebounds. Ivica Zubac and Westbrook added 16 and 14 points each, respectively, in an inadequate effort. Westbrook’s flagrant foul in the late third quarter and Hyland’s foul in the early fourth quarter caused the game to move away from the Clippers. However, they were able to rally with consecutive 3-pointers from Batum, Powell, Mann, and Batum again, bringing them within three points at 128-125 with 3:19 remaining.
Although the Clippers closed the gap to 132-130 with under two minutes remaining, they were unable to narrow the lead any further as Durant scored the last four points of the game. It will be interesting to watch where Westbrook goes from here.
