The first-round series between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Phoenix Suns has finally come to a close. After a euphoric Game 1 victory, the Clippers lost four straight games as the Phoenix Suns won the series 4-1. Devin Booker erupted with 47 points in Game 5 to give his team the final push over the line and win the game 136-130. While Booker has been the front-running player for Phoenix, Russell Westbrook played impressively well for the Clippers.

While Westbrook’s 2022-23 NBA season has unfortunately come to an end, he hasn’t looked very bitter about it. In fact, after the Clippers were eliminated, Westbrook hugged Booker and congratulated him for the series win. Many fans and critics have noticed and pointed out the Clippers guard’s nature since he switched sides. Westbrook hasn’t had the smoothest recent years in terms of his tenure in a team. However, ever since his shift to the Clippers, the guard has visibly looked happier and lighter.

Although Russell Westbrook is going into free agency in the postseason, he’s made quite a statement about being in LA. He was asked about his upcoming free agency and his future with the Los Angeles Clippers. To that he responded by saying, “One thing I’ll tell you is I love it here. I love the people. The fans, who embraced not just me but my family and close friends, I’m grateful and I definitely love being here.”

Ahead of his time with the Los Angeles Clippers, Russell Westbrook played for the Los Angeles Lakers. It was visibly evident that the Lakers weren’t the perfect organization for the guard. Playing alongside LeBron James, Westbrook played as a Laker for the 2021-22 season and half of the 2022-23 season. At the mid-season trade mark, the former MVP was traded out of LA to the Utah Jazz; however, shortly after, he finalized a contract buyout and signed with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Speaking to the press, Westbrook opened up about the challenges he faced in this season. He said he was in a better place mentally the moment he was traded from the Lakers.

The nine-time All-Star had a moderate average of around 15.8 points per game this season since his exit from the Lakers. He’s also averaged 4.9 rebounds per game and 7.6 assists per game. His shooting percentage was quite a decent number, as well as he shot 35.6% for three-pointers and 48.9% for field goals. Needless to say, the guard fits better with the Clippers organization and will hope to come back next season.
