“He’s out of the league” Russell Westbrook slapped with brutally harsh reality by Bill Simmons

Bill Simmons has been a regular name in the NBA headlines during the recent days and he is back again as he slapped Russell Westbrook with a harsh reality check. The league already has seen some mad moves, signings, extensions and trades in the ongoing offseason. But still, there’s a lot remaining to be done and seen. As the future of players like Russell Westbrook, Donovan Mitchell, Indiana Pacers stars and several other Free Agents is uncertain. But most of the eyes are on the Lakers point guard as the team has been trying to ship him across since the last season and they have been nothing but unsuccessful in it because of his hefty contract. Bill Simmons though has added a very different take of his to the already confusing story. As he believes Brodie is out of the league.

Patrick Beverley’s addition to the Los Angeles Lakers roster has already opened a door for Russell Westbrook’s exit. The owner Jeanie Buss and Head Coach Darvin Ham are favoring the star and the new backcourt duo. But still Mr. Triple Double is active in the market as the team is willing to do anything possible for getting better since they had a terrible season and didn’t even reach the play-in tournament. Bill Simmons’ take can be very right or wrong for Russell Westbrook as he really is in a situation where not many teams are interested in him.

Bill Simmons talking about a trade rumor regarding Russell Westbrook to Indiana Pacers or teams who are rebuilding right now quoted: “If that trade did happen… I think he’s out of the league. I’m not saying that in the Skip Bayless way. I just think he’s the rare kind of guy where if you’re a tanking team or a lottery team, why would you bring him in? All he’s gonna do is try to play 40 minutes a game and put up stats and make you more competitive. If you’re a playoff team, I can’t think of a playoff team that he would be additive to. He’s not gonna want to come off the bench. He doesn’t play defense. He’s not really a good shooter…The best possible scenario for his seven, eight and nine seeds for him where he plays 40 mins. None of those teams are gonna want him… If that trade happens and he gets bought out, that might be it for him.”

Bill Simmons isn’t all wrong with his take as Russell Westbrook may get shipped to a team rebuilding as that’s a fair way. But he’ll never fit in such a system so if he’s bought out things can really go south for him. Even the Los Angeles Lakers are aiming to build a more agile squad for LeBron James’ ease and get some veterans out. So this can soon be Brodie’s reality. But nothing can really be said or claimed right now as the situation his future is stuck in is very confusing but the picture would be a lot clear by the approaching training camp.

Russell Westbrook right now is the most hated and criticized active star in the league. Teams aren’t interested in him due to his contract and the terrible time he had last season while getting scapegoated. But again he wasn’t at fault and just one good season can change it all. So there’s no doubt about him being able to bounce back and gain the lost respect. But for that, he’ll have to get himself a season full of revenge and win over everyone who doubted him from the rivals to the critics. And, he can get that job done as he really has the potential to erupt in his best form in the coming season.
