Los Angeles Clippers superstar Russell Westbrook has a love-hate relationship with fans. There are times when fans adore him. And there are times, especially with respect to opposing fans simply wanting to trigger him. One such incident happened before the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Westbrook was warming up with shootarounds when a fan heckled him from the front rows. On hearing this, he asked the fan to come closer so that he could hear him properly. Once the fan came close, he reiterated what he was trying to tell Westbrook (which was not audible). Westbrook responded:

Better sit ya a** down, I ain't the one. I'm not the one.

The fan apparently said something negative about Westbrook. The former OKC Thunder star is not the kind of player to respond without reason.

Russell Westbrook has had an illustrious career so far. He is on the Clippers’ roster trying to win his first championship. His competitiveness and hard-working style is what has defined his career. Opposition fans tend to use these habits to their advantage when trying to rile up the former league MVP.

There have been instances before when opposition fans got into heated altercations with Westbrook. They try to rile up the superstar hoping to get his mind off winning. At times, he simply responds with impressively dominating performances. Other times, things end up going against him.

A season of change for the perennial All-Star

Russell Westbrook has had a different season so far. The former league MVP, triple-double machine, and scoring champion has always been the leader or at least the second star on any team he has played for thus far, except perhaps the LA Lakers. Even last season, he led the Clippers in the playoffs after Kawhi Leonard‘s injury.

This year, head coach Ty Lue has asked Westbrook to lead the second unit. This is after the team went 5-9 in November. Since he took over the bench squad and gave up the starter role, the Clippers have gone on an 18-4 run. Players and coaches have attributed Westbrook’s contribution off the bench as one of the reasons for this impressive turnaround.

Westbrook is a competitive individual. His competitive edge sets him apart. Fans want a piece of it in the best way they know. Sometimes however, things tend to backfire.
