“Team owners are doing this with players for years” Scottie Pippen boldly supports Kevin Durant’s trade request from Brooklyn Nets
Scottie Pippen and Kevin Durant
Scottie Pippen has been a real one for Kevin Durant as he supports his decision of requesting a trade out from the Brooklyn Nets. But that’s not exactly what many around the league believe in and ride with especially the old heads as they blame KD for not being the driver and always hopping around when the team needs him the most by calling him unloyal. But Scottie Pippen is an exception here as he supports Kevin Durant for his decision of leaving the Brooklyn Nets. As he isn’t the guy who has caused the mess and destruction but is just paying the price because of signing with the team and some unreliable players.
Kyrie Irving and James Harden are the real reason behind him leaving the Nets, of course, the franchise too himself has a big part of it. But now the one getting constantly criticized and trolled is Kevin Durant. Even though he has delivered the best performances he can and stayed committed to the team. So it’s understandable why Scottie Pippen is riding with KD requesting a trade out of Brooklyn Nets. As he likes the fact that the players now decide their future and not the owners and how being unloyal is getting the job done. Scottie Pippen’s support for KD is also understandable as once even he was stuck in a contract with the Chicago Bulls. The two scenarios are completely different but the changing and evolving game and player power just links it all up.
Scottie Pippen appearing on SiriusXM NBA Radio commented on Kevin Durant requesting a trade out of Brooklyn Nets and quoted: “That’s the game today. Players control their own destiny and not much loyalty is needed on either side of the table anymore. So I am fair with it to be honest I kind of like how the players have the freedom to change and it’s what the owners have been doing to the players for years. So, they just evened the playing field to me. I don’t feel bad for what KD is doing at all. I think it’s a great move for him. You move as much as you want in today’s game…it’s like playing pick-up basketball to me…”
Kevin Durant’s future in the league and Scottie Pippen’s comments on the situation
Scottie Pippen is absolutely right with his words for Kevin Durant and Brooklyn Nets’ situation. But honestly, that’s just limited to superstars like Kevin Durant and LeBron James. As not every other player would be listened to and waited on for him to decide his future plans. But as of now, even KD is stuck with the Nets as nothing about the Kyrie Irving situation can be said or claimed even though his Lakers rumors are on the air. There are also rumors about KD and Uncle Drew still wanting to play together but not at Brooklyn Nets. So as of now, nothing can be said about the superstar duo which never really shined and will always be around controversies.
Kevin Durant though is listed by almost every team in the league. As everyone wants to try their luck and have him on their roster. But the Nets’ needs aren’t met as their expectations for a KD trade are higher than his current market value. As out of nowhere suddenly the league is more focused on building a championship roster and not buying it out by giving away their future. As that’s exactly what the Brooklyn Nets did and now they are left helpless.
