“Why would he reunite with Russell Westbrook” Shannon Sharpe believes LeBron James-Kevin Durant trade is absolutely senseless
Kevin Durant has been struggling to find a new home in the NBA after choosing to opt out of the Brooklyn Nets. It was unfortunate who the super team turned out to be without playing more than a season together. Now they have been making several moves and discussions to help build a trustable and reliable roster.
Shortly after Kyrie Irving opted into his one-year deal, KD announced he wanted to be traded. He cannot be blamed as he was put in a very toxic and unreliable situation having his point guard choosing not to play with the team for personal reasons. The Nets were not even close to having a winning situation especially because of occasional entries and exits Irving had made, thus ruining their chemistry and game plan.

Kevin Durant rumored to swapped for the King
Kevin Durant had an MVP caliber season averaging 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game. Among the list of his favored destination were the Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat. Neither team has the assets available. Durant signed a four-year $194 million extension which will be exercised starting from the upcoming season.
His value on the market is the reason why Brooklyn has not been able to find a suitable swap. Owner Joe Tsai would certainly expect to get his returns at a fair price. Recently, due to a lack of progress, a rumor suggesting KD being swapped for LeBron James would solve the problem. LBJ also had a great season averaging 30.1 points per game but with neither player being interested in playing with the respective teams and the players, it seems hopeless.
Shannon Sharpe details why a Durant-James swap would not work out
There are several reasons why Kevin Durant cannot be swapped in exchange for LeBron James. Shannon Sharpe hit the nail on the head explaining in detail why both players would not want to be swapped for each other. He said, “Kevin Durant, why would he want to go to LA and reunite with Russell Westbrook? When you said, five years ago, the reason why he left OKC was because of Russell Westbrook. LeBron, why would he want to go to the Nets? He’s gonna leave one guy… who can’t shoot for another guy in Ben Simmons who’s afraid to shoot?”
“I don’t think Kevin Durant wants any part of playing in LA. With the scrutiny that comes along with being a superstar playing for the Lakers,” he said referring to KD’s reasons for leaving the Golden State Warriors. “LeBron wants no part of playing in Brooklyn or New York. The salaries match up, and you’re not going to have to give up any other compensation. One player goes here, the other goes there. When you look at it in its totality and what has transpired, it doesn’t make sense to me.”
