But former NFL star and current sports media personality, Shannon Sharpe feels that the Hall of Famer big man will ‘kill’ the Utah Jazz Center if the pair locked horns in Shaq’s prime. 

While Shaquille O’Neal is regarded as one of the fiercest big men to ever feature in the league, Gobert made huge sensation when he stated to lock his a** up in a 1-on-1 contest. To think about Gobert does have three defensive players of the year accolades against his name, but is that enough to stop the wrath of Shaquille O’Neal? Especially when the latter was in his prime?

Discussing the same matter on Undisputed, Sharpe believes that Shaquille O’Neal will absolutely destroy Gobert if they get face-to-face for a contest.

He stated, “He would kill Rudy Gobert. I’m talking about prime Shaq. I’m talking about from 1992-2003. Man… Rudy, do you realize you gave up 42 points to Ben Simmons? Shaq would have a Wilt Chamberlain game. Shaq would score 100 points on Rudy Gobert.”

To bring everyone on the same page firstly, Simmons and the Jazz Center do not play in the same position, Simmons did almost all of his damage in the paint against a team that has one of the most decorated centers in NBA history. 

He added, “I get it, but you’re not finna see no Shaq. Shaquille O’Neal is eating the lunch of way better defensive centers than you. I think (Hakeem) Olajuwon is a better defensive center and a better overall center because he has no offensive game.”

Shaquille O’Neal was the most dominant player in the NBA during his prime, even though he faced plenty of NBA 75 team Centers. Would Gobert have produced anything different? Perhaps all modern-era fans are unfortunate enough to not witness that apart from the verbal banter.
