Shannon Sharpe is back in the NBA headlines as he recently criticized his favorite player, LeBron James for playing the worst basketball he has ever seen him play. He also slammed the whole Lakers team for not living up to the expectations and being nothing but terrible. Shannon Sharpe also got the right job done by pointing out how the team is still the same when Russell Westbrook isn’t a part of it. So this time Brodie won’t be scapegoated.
Recently, the Denver Nuggets hosted the Los Angeles Lakers at Ball Arena and handed out them their fourth straight loss. It’s the second time in LeBron James’ career when he’s having a 0-4 record (the first time was in 2003-04). The game was closely contested and head to head during the first half. But in the third quarter, Nikola Jokic took over and had LeBron James and the Lakers speechless watching him and the Nuggets go to work.
In the game, Nikola Jokic got 31 points, 9 assists and 13 rebounds while registering another win for the team (won at 110-99 against the Lakers). Anthony Davis got 22 points, 5 assists and 14 rebounds. While LeBron James had a tough night and that’s exactly what Shannon Sharpe has called him out for. The King wasn’t even able to bring the ball up, shoot the ball, protect the ball or even play some good defense. He was just playing some terrible ball out there against the Nuggets who were led by the two-time reigning MVP.
LeBron James contributed with only 19 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds while having one steal and turning the ball over for 8 times. So being frustrated with the team Shannon Sharpe criticized them, especially LeBron James via a tweet from his personal Twitter handle.
Shannon Sharpe slamming the team wrote: “Lakers are just a bad basketball tm. With or w/o Russ. They’re TERRIBLE. Bron has 7 turnovers with 4-10 shooting. He’s playing the worse gm I’ve seen in play in 4ever. ???????”
The analyst is not wrong in saying that as the Lakers were really terrible and Russell Westbrook’s presence didn’t really matter to them. As they were again doing nothing but laying bricks as they shot 44.4% from the field and 26.7% from the three-point line. LeBron James went 8-for-21 from the field and made only two of his eight attempted three-pointers. It’s high time for the team to improve and get someone who can shoot the ball.
Is Russell Westbrook the reason behind the struggles of LeBron James, Lakers?
Russell Westbrook isn’t really the one who’s causing trouble for the Lakers. As even Shannon Sharpe mentioned that it’s not about Brodie but it’s just the terrible team. The Lakers are missing wide-open shots and again are down with the chemistry on both offensive and defensive ends. Even LeBron James is struggling with his game while being helpless. As except Anthony Davis he has no one to trust or back him up.
The Lakers either have to pull some good trades and get themselves guys who can be trusted to shoot the ball. Or else the BIG 3 of the team has to improve and build their game around each other. And, if they don’t fix this issue as soon as possible it would be nothing but another terrible season for the franchise.
