Dallas Mavericks couldn’t repeat their Game-4 magic and went down in the WC Finals eventually in Game 5 against Golden State Warriors. Luka Doncic provided yet another a team-high performance in the game but Mavericks couldn’t capitalize on it. Warriors remain undefeated on the home court as Luka Doncic’s mega efforts went in vain as Dallas lost game-5 at the Chase Center. The 23-year-old played 22 minutes in the second half, trying to pull the team back level and push for a win, but the Mavs couldn’t stop the free-flowing Warriors offense and waved the white flag with just 2 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter.

Everyone applauded Luka’s efforts in the game and Shannon Sharpe particular made his intentions clear towards the 23-year-old talismanic scorer. However, the sports media personality called out Mark Cuban for some help to the Slovenian.

Shannon repeatedly applauded Luka and expects the owner to set the right kind of players alongside him to go further in the playoffs in the coming seasons. The former NFL player claimed that Luka was the best player in the series against Golden State Warriors and could do the unthinkable if provided with the right pieces.

Being beaten by the Clippers for 2 consecutive seasons. As far as the current playoffs go, the Mavs had some difficult matchups with the likes of ever consistent Utah Jazz, last season’s NBA Finalist Phoenix Suns, and Championship experienced Golden State Warriors.

Though Mavs started each series with a loss, they did manage to bounce back and went on to win it all, with an exception of the Golden State Warriors. But it was Luka-show once again for the Mavs against the Dubs – who tightly marked the marquee player in order to disrupt the Mavs offense.

Playing in 15 games in the postseason, he averaged 31.7 points, 10 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game for the Mavs. This is his 3rd consecutive postseason with 30+ points and proved to be the offensive juggernaut for the team. He became only the second player in the league history to do so.

Specifically, in the series against offensively talented Golden State Warriors, Luka Doncic needed some help from his teammates, as he was heavily guarded on almost every possession. Apart from some flashes of good scoring from Spencer Dinwiddie, and Jalen Brunson no one showed up for the Mavs.

Shannon Sharp talked about the same thing in the show as he said, “I’m not concerned (about Luka’s Superstar status). What I am concerned about is whether Mark Cuban and the staff can put the pieces around Luka in order for him to get a step further.”

He supported his comments with some stats focusing on Luka’s efforts and comparisons with other Mavs stars. Sharp said on Luka, “He is 23-year-old, he is 3-time First Team All NBA player, he is never gonna be the most efficient player, Unless, he stop taking off-balance shots. For me though he had a great postseason run, knocks off the no.1 seed that won 64 games.”

Talking about the help, Shannon suggested Mavs provide a marquee “big player” support to Doncic as Golden State Warriors won most of the games, dominating in the paint and out-rebounding the Mavs. That being said, Luka Doncic certainly deserved some help, at the defensive end and some consistency from his team on the offensive end, which would get him closer to the ultimate goal at the end of the season.
