Every athlete, regardless of level, has a favorite teammate, whether it be someone they can depend on during a game or someone they enjoy hanging out with in the locker room or off the field. Usually, having a favorite is accompanied by having the least favorite. Over the course of his 19-year career, Shaquille O’Neal played with a lot of men, but when asked in an interview, who his worst teammate was, he hardly stopped before he named one.
Speaking on the matter, Shaq said, “Worst teammate? Dennis Rodman. He was a great player, but he made it hard. Like when you try to corral the guys together and the people above you [are] letting this one guy do whatever he wants. So we had to be there an hour before the game. He’d come in fifteen minutes before the game eating chicken and rice. While the coaches are talking, he would jump in the shower. Cold shower. Come and give you 15-20 rebounds. After the game, he don’t take a shower and be in a club with girls that look like you.'”
Shaq and Rodman were teammates in the 1998–1999 campaign. O’Neal’s experience with Rodman is one he’d like to forget, despite the Lakers’ frontcourt including two of the league’s top rebounders. On paper, something that could seem intimidating might not always turn out to be the ideal circumstance. A prime example of that is Shaq and Rodman working together.

Shaquille O’Neal and Dennis Rodman’s feud
Shaq’s revelation of his relationship with Dennis Rodman isn’t anything new. They in fact have a history of feuding with each other. They don’t get along now, and they surely didn’t get along when they were rivals. A prime example is them getting into an argument on the floor during a game, here’s a video of the same.
In another incident, Rodman showed up for the NBA 75 event wearing a different jacket than the one the NBA had provided the players, and he later threw off his jacket and crashed a photo with more recent stars like LeBron James, Chris Paul, and Dwyane Wade. Unsurprisingly, Shaq made a few remarks regarding Rodman’s conduct at the ceremony.
Shaq criticizing Rodman said, “If Dennis Rodman would’ve came in with a clean cut, in a suit with some glasses like that, that would’ve went viral. A clean cut, a cold-a** suit with some nice glasses, his hair did, two girls in his arms, you know, bringing him to the podium.”
In the 23 games He and Shaq shared the court in, Rodman averaged 11.2 rebounds and 2.1 points. After his time with the Lakers, Rodman joined his hometown Dallas Mavericks. Only 12 of the games he would play in would be the final ones of his NBA career.
