Stephen Curry or Damian Lillard, who is the better shooter? This question has been constantly brought up for a while. For the pair, it’s no secret that they have revolutionized the “three-point line” in the NBA. Both Curry and Lillard have displayed some absolute precision from beyond the three-point line. Half-court shots, buzzer beaters – you name it. However, for Shaquille O’Neal, there is only one clutch player between the two.

Shaq’s decision was not an easy one when asked the same question, as he acknowledged both incredible shooting skills and versatility. However, in terms of delivering in key moments with the game on the line, O’Neal believes Lillard’s clutch time is unparalleled.

I hate to even answer the question and let me tell you why. Steph is the best shooter but Dame Time is clutch at that shot." said the NBA Hall of Famer in their latest episode of The Big Podcast.

Shaq went on to explain his answer saying Curry is no doubt the better shooter. But most of the shots he takes are on the move. Lillard’s shots tend to come from standstill positions where he would go to one position and knock down the game-winner. That, is what makes Lillard the more clutch shooter, according to Shaq.

NBA debates never come to a solid conclusion. From your best player in history to the best team, the conversations never stop. The same goes for the debate between Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard, two of the best shooters of the generation.

The debate over who is the better shooter between Curry and Lillard has forever been a hot topic among NBA fans. There is no denying that Stephen Curry is undeniably the best shooter in NBA history and has changed the modern game. However, that doesn’t automatically make him the best long-range shooter in the league.

Damian Lillard, who is known for his ability to hit ridiculously deep shots, especially in clutch moments, poses a strong case.  Examining clutch statistics, Lillard has shot a commendable 44% from the field, including an impressive 7 out of 16 three-pointers and an astounding 97% from the free-throw line in nine games. Meanwhile, Curry has nailed 50% of his clutch three-point attempts, making him the leader in this category with 19 successful shots, a remarkable feat on its own.

And although Curry is undoubtedly regarded as the best PG shooter in NBA history, Lillard’s long-range shooting should not be underestimated. While both have provided us with some “jaw-dropping” highlights, it’s only a matter of time before fans will stop comparing them and enjoy the beauty of both games.
