“Bought 2 Rolls Royce and $3 Million house” Shaquille O’Neal felt fiscally illiterate after first big splurge
Shaquille O’Neal has become quite the business mogul these days. Added to that, he is one of the richest NBA players ever with the amount of investments he has made over the years and commission he has made. But he was never always the smart nut that he is today.
The former Los Angeles Lakers legend admitted he had no idea on the American Tax System and spent mindlessly as a rookie. As inspirational he is today, the legend regretted spending half of his $20 million paycheck in the 90s. At least he bought himself necessities that were used over time.
“The first year when I received $20 million, it was 10.9 and I spent most of that in one year being irresponsible. You know, I had some money in the bank and I wanted to have some fun. So, I bought a house, cash, $3 million, bought a couple of Rolls Royces, took a couple of trips, and then my accountant reminded me.“
Shaquille O’Neal learns how to be smart with his money
The NBA Hall of Famer has turned over a new leaf ever since then. He is still a big time spender but knows exactly where his money is going. He currently owns a beautiful mansion in Florida worth $11 million, the same house he now has contaminated toilets in. Besides this owns a Lamborghini, Mercedes Benz convertibles, Corvet convertibles and a lot more.
As an NBA player he made upto $300 million winning four titles along the way with Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade. He was the biggest freak of nature the NBA had ever since and owners were willing to put a bet on his skill. Shaq never failed to put on a show, until his health started to wear out.
Shaquille O’Neal currently appears as an analyst for NBA on TNT. He is under a $60 million contract with them and fans praise his contribution to sports entertainment’s biggest team. The former MVP also owns 50 brands across America which could potentially mean he is worth much more than what he said.
