Shaquille O’Neal has always been eager to learn and explore different things the world has to offer. Such we witnessed back in 2009, when the former NBA Rookie of the Year appeared on his very own game show called “Shaq Vs.” The Big Aristotle keeps challenging himself to be the best even to this date.

During his visit, Shaquille O’Neal learnt something very interesting about the NBA. He was told that Melbourne had given out the most No.1 overall picks in the NBA, which of course includes Kyrie Irving. The giant was left surprised especially when he found out on Irving’s background.

He replied saying, “Kyrie who? He’s from Melbourne? Stop it! Kyrie was born in Melbourne? I can’t wait to tell Charles Barkley.” Of course he had to tell Chuck about it. The two never stop challenging the young guns of today’s NBA and continue exchanging words as well.

But it is very true that a majority of the NBA’s recent No.1 overall picks are of Australian descent. Kyrie was born in Australia but grew up in America. Similarly, Andrew Bogut who played for the championship winning Golden State Warriors is also Australian.

The most recent Aussie player to be drafted No.1 overall was Ben Simmons. He and Irving happened to be named ROTY as well. Shaquille O’Neal was certainly more than surprised. He himself was a No.1 overall pick who goes down in history as arguably the greatest center of all time.
