“He’s the greatest basket-attacker I’ve ever seen,” Skip Bayless attempts to praise LeBron James despite “bottom of the league” shooting percentages
Skip Bayless praises LeBron after performance against Kings, but is he being genuine?
LeBron James
Controversial sports commentator Skip Bayless has recently attempted to praise LeBron James despite his current below-par shooting percentage from 3. Bayless declared James to be the greatest at attacking the basket that he had ever seen. The praise comes as a major surprise to the majority of NBA fans. This is because, throughout the last 2 decades, Skip has been one of LeBron’s staunchest critics.
“LeBron unraveled down the stretch but redeemed himself with a late driving and one. He’s the greatest basket-attacker I’ve ever seen and remains the best driver in the game today… which offsets his bottom-of-the-league 3-point shooting – below 30% after 1-6 tonight,” said Bayless following Bron’s performance against the Sacramento Kings.
LeBron James just scored as many points as his age, leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a narrow 136-134 win over the Sacramento Kings on the road. He has been dominating for the Lakers since Anthony Davis went down with an injury in their game against the Nuggets on December 16. 37 points against the Kings and James continues his purple patch.
LeBron’s performance drew praise from Skip Bayless as mentioned earlier. However, this was characteristically a backhanded compliment from Skip as he still pointed out James’ poor 3-point shooting this season. The King is shooting a lowly 29.5% from 3 this season after yet another poor shooting performance, hitting only 1 out of 6 in Sacramento.
There was almost a sense of celebration that LeBron James had finally converted his biggest hater into a fan. However, as one reads the entire tweet, one will find out that it’s just Skip Bayless being his usual self and nitpicking at LeBron’s greatness.
LeBron James leading the Lakers’ season turnaround
The Los Angeles Lakers have been on an incredible five-game winning streak since LeBron James celebrated his 38th birthday. During this time, Bron has had a remarkable run of performances with 47, 43, 25, and 37 points scored in those 5 games. James has been absolutely dominant since Anthony Davis went down with an injury on December 16th.
Including that game against the Denver Nuggets, LeBron has averaged 33.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.3 assists in 11 games. Not to mention he’s doing all this while still shooting very poorly from 3. Once the shot starts dropping, the Lakers will be even deadlier than they have been on this 5-game win streak. The Lakers are now tied with Minnesota for 11th place in the West at 19-21 and surging.
LeBron now sits just 422 points from Kareem’s points record, but in the game against Sacramento, he matched a different Kareem record. Since turning 38, he has scored 30 or more points on three separate occasions. It took LeBron only 4 games to do what Kareem took 200+ games to do.
