“What a WEIRD team,” Skip Bayless baffled by LA Lakers contradictory scoring rate in OT loss vs. Sixers

Skip Bayless

Sports media’s veteran personality Skip Bayless labels the Los Angeles Lakers as a ‘weird’ team after their close loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. The Lakers bounced back well and took the game to overtime. But ended up on the losing side after a low scoring rate in Overtime.

Skip Bayless tweeted about the same, quoting, “Impossibly, the Lakers came from 9 down with 29 seconds left to tie in regulation. Then, impossibly, they missed their first 9 shots in overtime and lost by 11. What a weird team.” The team struggled during the whole match to keep up with their opponent. As usual, Anthony Davis gave a solid performance, scoring 31 points, 12 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in 36 minutes.

LeBron James was seen struggling, as he finished with 23 points, four rebounds, six assists, and two steals in 43 minutes. Moreover, the 37-year-old struggled to lead his team on the offensive end in the fourth quarter.

Bron shot 9-of-22 from the floor and 1-of-8 shots from deep. The Lakers just scored 2 points in the overtime. Indeed, it was a heart-breaking performance for the franchise as they looked in solid shape after pocketing a few much-needed wins.

The LA Lakers will look to bounce back against Detroit Pistons

After a tragic loss to the 76ers, 17xChamps, Lakers are scheduled to play the Detroit Pistons next. The former team have recorded 10-15 this season and are ranked 13th in the Western Conference. On the other hand, the Detroit Pistons have recorded 7-21 and are 15th in the Eastern Conference. The Pistons are in much despair after having wins tally in a single digit.

The teams square off for the second time this season. The Lakers won the last meeting 128-121. Anthony Davis scored 38 points to help lead the Lakers to the win. The top performers for the Pistons until now are Bojan Bogdanovic, who scored 20.3 points per game and averaged 3.6 rebounds for the Pistons, and Alec Burks averaged 1.4 made 3-pointers over the last ten games.

Davis scored 27.5 points per game and averaged 12.3 rebounds for the Lakers. Lonnie Walker IV is averaging 2.0 made 3-pointers in the previous ten games for Los Angeles.

It will be a clash of two struggling teams, and the Pistons will be desperate for a win on one hand, whereas the ‘purple and gold’ army can prove to be party spoilers for them.
