“No great player, no alpha player would be overwhelmed” Skip Bayless believes Kevin Durant got himself humiliated and burnt vs Celtics

Kevin Durant and Skip Bayless

Skip Bayless and Kevin Durant have made it to the headlines. As this time it isn’t LeBron James but KD getting thrown some shade and criticism at him. The greatest LeBron James hater Skip Bayless has now switched teams and wouldn’t be riding on Kevin Durant’s back as he called him a weird dude while calling him out for the disappointing and failed season of the Brooklyn Nets and then parted ways. Throughout his media career, he has been praising and promoting KD as the best player on the planet even at times when LeBron James was an absolute beast. But now things might change as his evergreen take of KD is abandoned almost two decades of analysis and predictions.

Recently, Skip Bayless on his show/podcast which goes by the name of “The Skip Bayless Show” uploaded a video targeting KD with the title “What being swept means for Kevin Durant’s Career”. KD has been a part of many playoffs’ series all these years and this season after a lot of ups and downs finally he made it to the postseason but unfortunately got swept by the Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown-led Boston Celtics. Kevin Durant in the series was very limited on both the ends especially the offensive one as he wasn’t able to showcase his great scoring abilities and break down the defensive end of the Boston Celtics. Eventually, this resulted in a 0-4 sweep for the Brooklyn Nets. Skip Bayless keeping it all in his mind came up with an emotional and critical rant against KD.

Throughout the season there have been exchanges between both the ends and as of now, Skip Bayless has the last laugh with his latest upload. In the video Skip Bayless brought up all his history with KD and focused on the point of how Kevin Durant doesn’t appreciates any of the things he and many other media members have done for him throughout his career. But then going all in to rip apart one of the greatest scorers ever the analyst slapped his face with facts backing up the sweep and its effects on his legacy.

Kevin Durant discussing the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics’ first-round series quoted: “As you know, the Celtics roughed up Kevin Durant and he crumbled and he folded. He was overwhelmed, ultimately overmatched. Mr. Burner accounts just got burnt. His thin skin gave away, and it showed very little heart and little to no guts when push came to shove literally against that onslaught. The Celtics exposed Kevin Durant, dare I say soft, as intimidatable, as Kevin Ducan’t…Game 4 was actually an indictment of Games 1, 2, and 3 when he was just completely overwhelmed by the onslaught. No great player, no alpha player would be overwhelmed. The Jordans, the Birds, the Magics. Just give me the damn ball and get out of the way, I don’t care if two come after me. Two come after every great player, almost every possession. You just beat the double-team.”

Skip Bayless is not all wrong with his take on Kevin Durant as the Celtics really had him exposed out there while he played soft ball. But still taking him out or differentiating him from the list of legends is not right on the basis of just one series where he got swept. Still, KD is one of the best active players in action and he will use this long off-season for nothing but to improve and bounce back. The Nets this offseason will become one of the highest potential teams with great young faces around as many of his stars will be returning and resigning soon. It has though been a second early exit for the franchise but still, the hopes are on and so is the belief of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving bringing home a championship.
