“No GUTS NO GLORY,” Skip Bayless blasts ‘tired’ LeBron James for throwing away deserved win vs. Top seeded Celtics
LeBron James and Skip Bayless
LeBron James tried to make a step-back three-point shot in the last second against the Boston Celtics but failed as the Celtics beat the Los Angeles Lakers in overtime. When the Lakers had the chance to close the game in the last minutes, everything went downhill, something that has become the Lakers’ trait; something Stu Lantz, the Lakers’ broadcaster would tell you.
Skip Bayless, the co-host of the Undisputed, had no mercy against LeBron James when he missed a game-winning 3-point shot to seal the win for the Lakers. Bayless has for long said that James is the greatest when it comes to driving the basket and finishing with high efficiency. He has also accused James of being scared to go to the free throw line in crunch time.
After Jayson Tatum dropped a fadeaway turnaround jumper over LeBron to even the game, the Lakers were expected to take a lead as they had 16.6 seconds on the clock. James, who was being defended by Tatum, took the ball across the half-court got Grant Williams off of the AD’s screen on Tatum, and launched a three-pointer that missed the basket.
James and Davis both looked gassed in the overtime as they mostly remained inactive on the court. James and Davis played 42 and 46 minutes in the game and barely seemed engaged. James attempted a few 3-point shots but had no luck. A furious Bayless took to Twitter to slam the 4x MVP and said that he should have taken over in the overtime. “Just shameful, LeBron. That game – that overtime – should’ve belonged to YOU, King. Instead you left it in the hands of Westbrick. No guts, no glory,” wrote Bayless.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis combine for 70 points in the Lakers’ loss to the Boston Celtics
Anthony Davis finished with 37 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 of 24 field goal attempts. James was effective from the field as well, connecting on 14 of his 25 attempts. For the Lakers, the 37-years old not only scored 33 points but also had 9 assists. Only Russell Westbrook (20) from the Lakers scored in double digits in addition to Bron and AD.
Jayson Tatum, who was the offensive catalyst for the Celtics, finished with 44 points in 43 minutes, including a pivotal game-tying turnaround fadeaway jumper over LeBron with around 17 seconds left on the clock. When Tatum wasn’t on the court, Jaylen Brown took up much of the offense and scored a decisive 25 points for the Celtics. The Celtics’ roster had four players who scored in the double figures during the contest, which appeared to be a battle of the superstars.
