“He’s a joke” Skip Bayless calls out Russell Westbrook for blaming the media for his portrayed ‘FLOP’ image in Hollywood
Russell Westbrook and Skip Bayless
NBA analyst Skip Bayless calls out the Los Angeles Lakers’ deserted player Russell Westbrook for blaming the media for his sub-par performance against the Los Angeles Clippers. Skip has always been taking shots at Russell, and this time is no different. The last time Russell missed all of his shots was way back in 2016 and Skip Bayless discussed Russell’s form when he played in the regular season with co-host Shannon Sharpe.
The two analysts also mentioned that Russell is not ready for an off-the-bench role. Skip mentions on the show, ‘Undisputed,’ “to the point that let’s say they… do the hypothetical to Indiana, let’s say they give up the 27, 29 unpredicted first-round picks and Indiana says we’ll take them. And they negotiate some kind of buyout and all of a sudden Russ has paid off maybe 75% since on the dollar whatever… all of a sudden he’s free yeah you sure somebody’s going to take him?” Skip also slammed the Lakers player for pointing out at media for his poor show.
Skip has always targeted LeBron James as well as Russell Westbrook. He even wanted the Lakers to trade Westbrook and find a more convenient option as his replacement. With a long season ahead, all eyes will be stationed on Russell Westbrook and the LA Lakers. He was even seen blaming HC Darvin Ham for his hamstring injury. The analyst further said, “He’s the butt of jokes, he’s a joke,” while Sharpe claimed that Russ was worthy of all the criticism since he is an All-Time great.
Kevin Durant defends Russell Westbrook from all criticism
Russell’s former teammate Kevin Durant came to his rescue from constant criticism and mocking. KD was talking on the ‘ETC’s podcast’ with Boardroom. The Nets star’s comments were about Westbrook facing the heat for multiple videos posted to social media, which showed him sitting by himself while the rest of the team huddled up.
He even talked about how dialogues are constantly there around their respective games, making things more inconvenient and toxic. Westbrook has been under heavy scrutiny since he was traded to the Lakers before last season, and his poor performances for the men in purple and gold have made him an easy target amid the team’s struggles.
Almost all of the on-court criticism has been fair. Westbrook did not play well last season and did not fit next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Everyone wanted Westbrook traded, but the Lakers’ front office couldn’t find a suitable home for him. It is important for Westbrook now to step up and prove his mettle.
