“He got afraid to shoot… LeBronesque; painful to watch” Skip Bayless compares Kevin Durant’s Game 3 performance to LeBron James’ inability to shoot in the 4th quarter
Skip Bayless on Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant might be experiencing one of the worst chokes in recent basketball history after failing to lead his team for the third straight time. The playoffs are a very intense and cutthroat atmosphere, but are the Brooklyn Nets capable of surviving it? What was initially termed as a defensive lacking may now be changed to player inefficiency after Durant failed to help the Nets close out one of their most crucial games of the series.
Brooklyn lost Game 1 in a tragic buzzers-beater hit against them by Jason Tatum. But the Boston Celtics’ forward has been more of a menace for the Nets rather than just an offensive threat as he and his team were able to steal Game 2 as well. Kevin Durant has only averaged 22 points per game this series with a rather unusual 5.6 turnovers being recorded as well. The situation with the Nets is highly concerning as Game 4 approaches.
Kevin Durant chokes and fails to win vs the Celtics in Game 3
After averaging 30 points per game in the regular season, Kevin Durant has been struggling to find his rhythm against the defensive heavy Celtics team. In their third game, KD finished with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists on 6-11 shooting while turning over the ball five times. In the previous two games, he records a total of 12 turnovers which is quite abnormal for the player.
Against the Celtics, neither he nor Kyrie Irving has been much in effect for the team. Bruce Brown was the best offensive in Game 3 finishing with 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists which would have been powerful if the two top players were playing well. Brooklyn’s Head Coach Steve Nash spoke on the issue saying that Boston was “loading up on him” and “being physical with him.”
Skip Bayless slams Kevin Durant over fourth quarter misfortunes
ESPN’s Skip Bayless spoke on KD’s inefficiency in the fourth quarter on Twitter. He said, “In the 4th quarter, Kevin Durant got afraid to shoot, instead of looking first to kick out passes for threes. LeBronesque. Painful to watch. And don’t get me started on five more turnovers tonight, on top of the 12 he committed on Games 1 and 2.” Durant only shot a bucket in the 11 attempts he took during the closing quarter.
“I was just thinking too much, to be honest, this whole series,” said Durant. “I feel like the first two games I was trying to be too aggressive. A team that’s loading up on me, that’s trying to take me out of all my action. I felt like I was still trying to force the first two games and watching film, a lot of my teammates were open and they were knocking down shots… my approach to this game was to play off of everybody.” Now that the Celtics have taken a 3-0 lead, the odds of the Nets making a comeback is certainly very low as they would have to win the next four games straight.
