“Russ keeps saving LeBron!” Skip Bayless credits Russell Westbrook for his off-the-bench greats

Russell Westbrook helping LeBron James, Skip Bayless

Skip Bayless has been charmed over by Russell Westbrook‘s ability to overcome the critics while having a great time doing it. Westbrook has continued to put on a show since accepting the sixth-man spot, and Bayless once more praised him for excelling against the Pelicans while also making a mockery of LeBron James.

As was very apparent from last season, LeBron James cannot be the Los Angeles Lakers’ only chance at survival. The Lakers started this season by dropping their first five games, but things started to turn around when they shocked the Denver Nuggets and recently defeated the New Orleans Pelicans. Since LeBron James and the Lakers are still in the spotlight right now, NBA expert Skip Bayless has suggested that Westbrook is saving LeBron following his lackluster display on Wednesday night.

One of James’ biggest adversaries, Skip Bayless, used the situation to praise Westbrook while making a mockery of the four-time NBA MVP. Following the Lakers’ victory over the Pelicans, he tweeted: “Russell Westbrick had been reborn as Russell Westbench, fire-starting off the bench. 11&7 as 6th Man of Yr candidate in the 1st half as Lakers pull away by 12. Russ keeps saving LeBron! (Lakers announcers suggesting he’s playing sick tonight – it’s always something with “King.”)

Russell Westbrook and the Lakers get their second win of the year

After a 0-5 start to the season, the Los Angeles Lakers overcame the New Orleans Pelicans 120-117 on Wednesday night thanks to a game tying 3-pointer by Matt Ryan at the end of regulation and a clutch 3-pointer by Lonnie Walker in overtime while scoring 28 points. For the Lakers, Anthony Davis had 20 points and 16 rebounds, LeBron James had 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists, and Russell Westbrook had 13 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds in another strong performance as a substitute.

For the Pelicans, who fell to 4-3, Zion Williamson scored 27 points, while McCollum added 22 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. In the final minute of regulation, Williamson’s 14 points in the fourth quarter gave New Orleans a three-point advantage. To the scoreboard, Larry Nance Jr. contributed 11 points, and Trey Murphy added 12 more. Larry Nance Jr.’s dunk in the dying seconds of the game gave New Orleans the impression that they had it won, but Ryan’s three-point attempt forced them to relinquish.

Skip Bayless with a string of criticisms of the Lakers

One of LeBron James’ greatest enemies, Skip Bayless, tweeted that the 37-year-old is now submitting to Father Time before asserting that the Lakers would be far better off without him. LeBron scored only 19 points and had eight turnovers in the loss to Denver last week, according to Bayless. By his usual standards, James appeared to have a bad game against New Orleans as he appeared exhausted. James was afterwards listed as feeling under the weather by the broadcasters which was also mentioned by Bayless.

Russell Westbrook’s time in Los Angeles has obviously not gone as planned because of his difficult chemistry with James, which caused a decline in his performance. In his three games this season as a substitute, Westbrook has averaged 16.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 6.6 assists while shooting 46% from the floor. With his impressive performance, Brodie also appears to have won over the Lakers nation, and the favorable responses have greatly boosted his confidence.
