Giannis Antetokounmpo had one of the worst nights of his career from the free-throw line. A night not only he but even the Bucks fans would want to forget. The game between Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers was a much-awaited game. The battle of the top two big men in the league, the showdown was a certified box office day for the NBA.
The 76ers defeated, Giannis and the Bucks 110-102 in a neck-to-neck battle. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 25 points and 14 rebounds, but a loud Philadelphia atmosphere made each of the second-half free-throw attempts more difficult.
Believe it or not, Giannis attempted 15 free throws in the game of which he made 4 of them, a 26.7 free throw percentage night for arguably the best player in the league.
NBA analyst Skip Bayless took to Twitter to express his disappointment towards Giannis’ free throw disaster. To make it worse for the former MVP, he called Joel Embiid, the best player in the NBA. “Right now Joel Embiid is the best player in the NBA. Has such an advantage over Giannis because HE CAN MAKE FREE THROWS. In tonight’s blown-lead loss at Philly, Giannis went 4-15 from the FT line,” wrote Bayless.
However, Giannis’ woes did not just end with the loss and his disastrous night from the charity line, as he was involved in a heated confrontation between 76ers star Montrezl Harrell with a maintenance worker in the arena. Because of his poor performance, he returned to the court postgame to practice free throws and engaged in a confrontation with a maintenance worker who was getting ready to begin working on the basket. After what appeared a heated conversation, Antetokounmpo pushed away the worker’s ladder.

In the post-game press meet, Giannis shared his side of the story about the incident. Calling it an unfortunate event, Giannis said, “I never try to disrespect anyone, in any way shape or form. I feel like today was just unfortunate event that took place.”
According to Giannis, the altercation started after he began shooting free throws and was told by a player and a coach to get off the court.
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel obtained the footage which showed that Harrell took the ball away from Giannis and refused to give it back. The footage also showed that Giannis went into the locker room and brought the ball for himself to shoot the rest of the FTs. That is when Antetokounmpo got into a heated altercation with the staff member.
As Giannis pushed the ladder away from the basket, the footage shows that the ladder falling.
“I don’t know if I should apologize because I don’t feel like I did anything wrong, except the ladder just fell. I feel like it’s my right for me to work on my skills after a horrible night from the free-throw line. I think anybody in my position that had a night like me would go out and work on his free throws,” Giannis told reporters.
