Skip Bayless denies all claims of Lakers wasting LeBron James’ ‘Years of Greatness’
Skip Bayless and LeBron James
This season has been an unbelievably wild ride for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. The legendary team got off to an unbelievable 0-5 start. However, they went on to improve to an 8-2 run while Anthony Davis was performing like an MVP-caliber player and Russell Westbrook was excelling in his role as a reserve. Unfortunately, Davis then suffered an injury that will prevent him from playing basketball for roughly a month.
LeBron James is still defying age in the meantime. He performed a scoring clinic like no other. James, who will turn 38 on Friday, has had such a stellar run that has both fans and critics applauding. Many have criticized the franchise for blowing some of LBJ’s remaining prime years given how fantastic he has recently played. But expectedly, Skip Bayless, James’ harshest critic, disagrees.
On a recent episode of ‘Undisputed’, Skip said, “I think Jeannie Buss and Rob Pelinka are getting a raw deal here because they are the recipients of all the angst and agony of Lakers Nation that should be aimed at LeBron himself because he got exactly what he wanted because originally he wanted Anthony Davis.”
Bayless also blamed LeBron and Davis for pressuring the front office for acquiring Westbrook. He said, “They pushed hard for Russ, and Jeanie said, ‘OK. Give him Russ, even though it’s going to cost us $44 million one year and $47 million the second year.’ And there have been moments this year where you thought it wound up maybe not being worth $47 million.”
Skip Bayless criticizes LeBron James for poor shooting despite win against Magic
In the wake of LeBron’s 0-for-7 performance from beyond the arc during the LA Lakers’ 129-110 victory over the Orlando Magic, Skip Bayless aimed at both LeBron James and Westbrook. Despite James’ poor night from long range, the Lakers were 17-of-36 as a team.
It allowed Bayless, one of LeBron and Westbrook’s harshest critics, to criticize the duo’s appalling 3-point shooting efficiency. The Fox Sports analyst posted the following on Twitter:
In the Lakers victory, James finished with a team-high 28 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. James missed all seven of his 3-point attempts but still managed to shoot 50% from the field. Additionally, he made 4-of-5 free throws
The remainder of the group followed suit. Five further players reached double-digit scoring. Off the bench this season, Russell Westbrook recorded his third triple-double. Thomas Bryant scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds on 80% of his field goal attempts while filling in admirably for the ailing Anthony Davis.
