“Made him look like a Joke,” Skip Bayless hypes up Joel Embiid’s MVP case after he leads the Sixers past Nikola Jokic’s Nuggets

Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid put in an astonishing performance to beat the #1 seed Nuggets with 47 points and 18 rebounds. This dominating display has solidified his MVP case even further and in the eyes of Skip Bayless, there is no debate. Skip Bayless said on First Take that “Embiid made the ‘Joker’ (Jokic) look like a Joke, with no R on it”

“On Saturday I watched Joel Embiid destroy Joker in Philadelphia. My MVP went for 47-18-5 against the Joker and made him look like a JOKE!,” said the analyst. Skip Bayless is a believer in Embiid and the Sixers calling them the best team in the east. Despite being the 3rd seed in the east right now, the Sixers have the best record in the league since December. Philadelphia has gone 21-7 in this stretch and Embiid has been the focal point. To add to all of this, Embiid drained the game-ending three right in Jokic’s face.

Joel Embiid looks to finally break his MVP curse this season

Via Forbes

Joel Embiid has finished MVP runner-up to Nikola Jokic in back-to-back seasons now. This year Jokic is putting up sensational numbers once again but so is Embiid. Embiid leads the league in scoring at 33.5 PPG. Jokic on the other hand is averaging 25 points he is also putting up 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Jokic is doing all of this with incredible efficiency too.

Joel Embiid is just unfortunate that his peak has collided with another monstrous peak with Jokic. Both of them are incredibly skilled big men who lead their teams from the front. Skip Bayless feels that this year Embiid has shown that he is better and that his time is now. However, Jokic will still have the upper hand as his Nuggets sit atop the West.

Although it’s not all gloomy for Embiid as nobody has ever won 3 MVPs in a row since Larry Bird in the 1980s. With voter fatigue becoming a commonality in the league right now, do not be surprised to see Embiid walking away with the trophy.
